So it's been well over a years since we lost our Boxer. I still miss him.

My wife isn't a massive dog fan. But me and the kids want one and I know my wife will take to a dog as she does every time.

We've been looking around at rescue centres. Yesterday we went to the Dogs Trust to take a look. It's very busy and I got the impression they go more on the form you fill in that listen about you and your family background. They don't seem keen on dogs going to homes with kids in. I guess that's in case a child gets bitten.

So after seeing several dogs, finding 3 we liked and having 2 dismissed straight away as they don't like cats we saw this chap.

He's already reserved so we're next in the queue. I've never really thought about a lurcher before but he's full of character and got on really well with us for the short time we got to spend with him.

Absolutely lovely. Full of character and he will defo enjoy chasing the ball and playing and learning shame he's already reserved. Fingers crossed you find the right doggy for your home

Socks looks great !! I'm going to assume he's a sock thief though :D

Good thing about lurchers is they don't require much exercise - certainly not as much as people think :)

I’d never heard of that breed before. Definitely an interesting mix! Good luck (y)

They're a mix breed. It's not officially recognised by the kennel club but it's the longest standing named Monel mongrel dog breed. They're between a whippet and a greyhound in size. Lighteningly fast when hunting but otherwise very lazy. Crap guard dogs, excellent family dogs.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the next one will be the right one.

Still at least you won’t have to recover your socks from a pile of dog doo every day. ;)

We're rehousing a dog in 2 weeks. She's about 2 years old. Very friendly, a bit excitable with dogs, will need a bit of training but seems suitable for us.
