Wonga no longa

Post by duke63 »

Hopefully the beginning of the end for scumbags like these.

Usually run from a backstreet office in an offshore country. How wonder how much the owners have siphoned off before it collapsed?

You say that, but (unfortunately) the demand will not be reduced by their collapse.
All that will happen is that those desperate (or stupid) enough to need their services will be forced into the welcoming arms of blackmarket loan sharks.

Sadly you're right. There have always been loan sharks and people who have to use them.

Yes but these were effectively legalized loan sharks. The investors behind them were very wealthy people taking advantage, IMHO.

And if you look at the Wonga details on Companies House it does indeed look like shares were issued to try and protect the owners from any liquidation.

At end of the day they gave people loans who were refused by everyone else due to bad credit. It's crazy to bill someone at 1000% over their initial loan and think they will pay them back!!
