Thats my MOT done for another year

Post by T.C. »

This time 3 years ago I was stuggling In the Royal Berkshire Hospital with heart failure (Dilated cardiomyopathy) and tachycardia.

Today was my medical MOT and by and large, everything seems to be holding up well (says I looking for some wood to touch)

Cheolestrol is up a bit, but down from last year. Blood sugar is up a little, but apparently not surprising given my age  weight is holding steady and constant but I could do with getting a few punds off, but blood pressure apparently is excellent. Heart rate is ticking over quite nicely, so all in all not too bad.

The Nurse was surprised that my cholestral has dropped a bit when I told her that I took the first course of Statins in October and they stopped me from working so I did not bother renewing my presecription. So now she wants me to talk to the Doctor by way of a phone consultation to discuss an alternative statin which I don't have a problem with because if it has the same effect, I will do the same as before.

But overall? I am pretty pleased with the outcome and prognosis for another year.

As the joke goes, "Just keep taking the tablets" ;) :D I have enough of them to take, so no getting rid of me just yet (blush)

Endurance!!.......That's the one I notice the most. Or lack of it, I should say.
Otherwise, as males, our 'power' - things like sprinting abilty, usually peaks fairly early.....endurance tops out in your 30's,
Strength usually builds continually into your 50's then drops off fairly quickly.....so I guess I've got that to look forward to next.

And creaking aching bones, regular visits to the bathroom during the night, smaller appetite, hair loss, eyes knackered and getting fed up withglasses getting steamed up and, and, and.......

There is a lot to look forward to ;) :D

Lack of physical activity is probably the most obvious reason....food is fuel, etc.

Really? I am more active now than I was before I became ill.

I have spoken to quite a few people of my age who are really active and even they say that their appetite has shrunk.

Hey, less of the lanky lol :D The reason I smoked for so many years was to try and stunt my growth. I really should be about 9'6"

Mind you it didn't work for my ex brother in law in 7'6" in bare feet.. With his Policemans helmet on he was over 8 feet and he smokes about 40+ a day. Now thats a lanky bastard ;)

I have not got a clue about the weight thing though.....

I still work in tons, stones, pounds and ounces. The KG thing is what they told me this morning, but I have no idea what it means.

That'd be like Yoda pointing at Chewbacca and making some glib excuse about being a short-arse.

Darren is just jealous TC, as he's a little "vertically challenged" himself.

Great to read that you're still heading in the right direction, far different situation to that scary post of yours.

Fwiw I totally agree with you about the many challenges arising from our accrued years (especially about these dam glasses, hate them). However, as I keep pointing out, still better than the only known alternative.

Someone's going to say..."No, it's not that bad...but it's not that tall, either".
