The Steam Packet Company

Post by Kwacky »

The Manx Government is looking to buy it so it would become state owned. The deal is worth £124m.

I wonder if they'll be a bit more sensible with prices?

You'd think that's the ONLY reason they'd buy it....the place is all about tourism & not much more than that, yes??

It's used to avoid tax. People register companies there as a tax dodge.

Tourism counts for a massive amount of income for the Island. Expensive ferry fares has seen visitor numbers drop.

Over 10% of the islands income comes from online gambling
the highest rate of income tax is 20% compared to 45% on the mainland
there is no corporation tax or capital gains tax
you can get tax relief for a home loan

If the Steam Packet deal goes through I doubt the price structure would change much , possibly some savings for manx residents.
