Star Wars - Chapter IX

Post by Kwacky »

I read the comments on here about the recent films, but I'm still keen to see how this all pans out.

The script for the final episode has been approved. They start filming in the summer with a view for a December 2019 release.

Two new character to the films to be featured in this film are Mara Jade and Caro

Mara is well known to Star Wars fans. Mara Jade married Luke and they had a son, Ben Skywalker. Before she met Luke she worked for Emperor Palpatine as one of his hands. She is trained by Luke to become a Jedi master but is killed by Jacen Solo - Han and Leia's son.

I've never heard of Caro.

Call me a cynic but the introduction of Mara so late in the films leads me to believe Disney are looking for an expansion movie. She's a key character outside of the movies.

Mara Jade is in a lot of the other star wars related backgrounds in gaming too. I didn't know her background tbh, just seen her mentioned.

The names aren't quite matching then, and it didn't seem like Luke had a wife, but I suppose that could easily be added.

I've liked the story so far. Looking forward to the Solo spin off, as these seem a bit grittier.

TBH there's tonnes of characters that could be introduced from the books, cartoons, video games, rpg's and boardgames.

Yep....Disney didn't buy the SW franchise to just do a few movies then walk away from it. R1 was just the first of the "Star Wars Expanded Universe" movies....and sooner rather than later that's all there will be.
It's really no different from all the Bond movies, which rarely- if ever, follow the original books further than their titles.

Darth Maul would be a good one. There's a good story with him and his sisters, plus you can deal with how he survived the fight with Obi Wan and how he ends up fighting the early rebellion. You could get Darth Vader in that film very easily as Maul and Vader were around at the same time as Maul plotted to kill him and his master.

But he never says anything ....maybe two lines in the whole Phantom Menace??

And then he fell down a big hole....beside himself, as it were.

That's a good point. I've never really watched Rebels but a few times......I just don't think SW lends itself to cartoons very well....but that's just me.

Rebels fills in a lot of gaps and tees up A New Hope.

The artwork in the Rebels series was based on original screen artwork for the Star Wars film. Two of the characters in Rebels are based on how R2D2 and Chewbacca were going to look.

I thought Rogue set things up perfectly but it's getting to be like a fricking Bible Study with the chronological side of stuff....the attention to detail is staggering when you think about it.

Rogue is directly before Star Wars.

Rebels shows the Empire growing, how the Jedi are hunted and the very start of the Rebellion.

The space ship used in Rebels appears in Rogue.
