Hi Trev, nice bike.

I think there's some people near you, Blade, Andy and Rocket come to mind. Monty is the other side of the Peaks.

Where do you tend to go riding?

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I get anywhere and everywhere to be honest.
Over into Wales regularly.
Lake District and up into the borders. Yorkshire, Settle, Hawes Devils etc. Helmsley and over to the east.
A few lads i have ridden with for the last decade or so have hung up their leathers over the last couple of years, hence I'm looking for new people localish to me.
Itching to get some miles in.

The white wheels look lovely when clean..

Hey everybody! My names Ben Lorey, im Pauls (kiwikrasher) nephew from the US. I came over to Australia and stayed with paul last summer and he took me out on his ducati, ever since that day I was hooked! I worked some overnight shifts at an amazon factory to build up some money and with pauls guidance and an agreement to take a defensive riding course, I chose a yamaha FZ-07! Ive had it for a little over month now and am absolutely loving it! Thanks for letting me join the chat! Image

Seem to have missed this thread and not introduced myself.
I'm Bob, 62, retired RAF Engineer living in the Dordogne in France since I retired in 2004.
Started riding at 15 in Germany. First proper bike at RAF Leeming with a Honda CB250K4. Posted to Germany when I was 18 so added a Honda CJ360T, Suzuki T500 and a new tax free BMW R75/7. Went through all sorts of bikes, many BMWs and some Ducatis.
Just bought another tax free BMW, a R1250RS, from London and paid the VAT here. Garage is getting a bit crowded with the new BMW, my 2017 Ducati Supersport 939, a 1967 Ducati 250 mk3 and my girls Monster 821.
Garage is full of tools, so if anyone is down this way and needs help, I have a bike trailer and tools, brexiteers please don't even ask for help! :D
My interest is mainly touring and have been all over Europe alone or with a partner. I was in the UK, Dorset, for a year or so last year with the Supersport which is French registered. Gives me immunity from UK speeding tickets.
Here in France there is no road tax nor MOT on a motorcycle so it doesn't matter how many you own, life is easy.

Hi Bob and welcome.

Where is the nearest major town to you in France?

Was it relatively easy to transfer your BMW to French registration? Its one of the issues i keep contemplating as there is no doubt that importing UK vehicles into any EU country is going to be more difficult from 1 January.

Yes it was easy, but it is not the first bike that I have put onto French plates. I would suggest that it could become a very expensive exercise after brexit.
The important document is a European Certificate of Conformity (CofC). Every bike post 2002 will have one somewhere, normally with the country importer, but it is getting it that can be difficult. You ony need to ask and I'll help where I can.
Our nearest town is Perigueux to the north west and Bergerac to the south west.
We have many bike visitors out here who stay at a very nice municipal camp site at St Leon sur Vezere, most of them are Irish and come back year after year. I tend to organise some rides out on nice roads or visits to nice places for them. It is not a business and I do everything for free.
