Umm ... hello!

I am new - in many ways - and I just thought I'd pop here and say hello.

I'm based in Birmingham, and I'm brand new to motorbiking. It's something I've always had in the back of my mind to do, but never got round to it. I'm 35, now, and finally did my CBT in January 2017. It's safe to say I'm not a natural at riding, and the experience was so grim (I won't be going back to that school!) that I didn't do anything with it for a while.

But I plucked up the courage to have another go in January of this year and bought myself a YBR. Now the weather's improved, I've started to venture out on it and I'll be looking to at least try and start my DAS this year.

It's rather daunting looking at all you riding Gods, but I hope you won't mind having a noob wobbling around, nibbling at your heels for a bit. Literally no-one I know rides, so I'd really appreciate having a bunch of sensible people (rather than the "BUY A GSXR1000 IMMEDIATELY - YOU'LL BE FINE" brigade) to bounce things off every now and again!

A very quick bit about me ... I trained as a lawyer, but left the profession after 10 years because it's crap, and I've now changed to doing something I love - piano teaching. In the past, I got my PPL, but I haven't used it for years on account of bloody hell that's an expensive way to remove notes from your wallet! I'm hoping that biking gives me a similar sense of thrill, self-reliance and concentration at a fraction of the cost!

Anyway ... that'll do for now. I'll try not to cramp your style too much. If anyone wants me, I'll just be over here tucking in to get an extra mile per hour.

Hello. We may have internet met before.

We're al happy to help. wobblers to racers alike.

If you get bored, start a political argument in the slapper section.

Hello and welcome to the forum, it sounds like you are starting out like i did with a few months on a 125 (Honda cg in my case) then das and a decent used bike to get me going.
Mine was a suzuki SV650s, decent light weight bike with enough grunt to get into trouble but not so much to be scared of the throttle.

If I'd known you had a slapper section, I'd have joined years ago.

Thank you Stonesie. It looks like the school I'm probably going to use uses SV650s. It's on the list as a sensible first big bike! I have to confess I rather like the new 'X' edition, but I fully expect to receive a load of abuse for this ;)

Welcome Fella.

We have all been wobblers, many of us have fallen off and most people on here ride for the fun and to our own limits, not anyone elses.

As has been said, pull up a chair and enjoy. Any questions and someone will have done it before :)
