Over looked this thread, but it's a slow work day today.. learnt a fair bit about some people I've known 'online' for a few years!

I'm Paul, 42, a kiwi (Obviously!) but live in Aussie (13 yrs), just out of Sydney metro in the hills (Kurrajong Heights). Married to an Aussie bird, two kids, 7 yr old boy and a 5 yr old girl, and they have changed the person I am like I never expected.

Started the 'online' bike chatter on daytona600.org when I bought the Daytona. First road bike since I was 23. Followed the crowd to tankslap "the original" but after crashing my bike rather badly at a trackday and going thru' some major life 'bumps' drifted off the site for a few years.

The bike is kind of back together. Still needs a paint, the new charging system installed, rebuild the left front shock (as I stuffed up last time and the compression screw won't move) and a few other bits and pieces. Been like this for 2 yrs now. I rode it down last week to get rego and hope this is the year it is fully revived!

I was in the RNZAF for 11 yrs as an Aircraft Tech working mainly on the A4 Skyhawks. Left when the woman lead government scrapped our Strike Wing. Moved to Aussie and worked as a RAAF contractor for 4 yrs then kinda accidently fell into the Oil and Gas game as a Refinery Operations Tech. Worked for Shell at the Sydney refinery till I got made redundant after 7 yrs when the place shutdown. Luckily picked up a new job straight away on an Offshore Gas Production Platform in the Timor Sea. I do a 3 week (day shift) on, 4 week off, 3 week (nightshift) on, 5 week off roster. Sounds sweet till you try 21 days straight of 12 hrs shifts 250 km from the closest land, but I'm getting used to it.

My posting is sporadic now as when at home I'm pretty flat out during the day and we have a "no online" policy in the evening at home so we actually communicate and spend time together. So most of my posting is when I'm stuck in the middle of the ocean at work... like now.

Main interests outside of bikes is photography, scuba diving, MTB and more recently running. I actually really dis-like running, but I need to do something for exercise out here and I like the results I get. Plus I run the City2Surf each year for fundraising and I'm stubbornly trying to break an hour this year.

And finally, I'm a clumsy accident prone twat... ask Monty (lol)

Introductions - Say "Hello" Here

Post by Jimmy Mc »

I'm Jimmy, 31 and I live in Widnes, Cheshire with my fiancée and a cat.

Been riding since I was 18 but had a few years out recently due to other commitments.

Work in Liverpool doing investment management for individuals, charities, pensions and the like.

Had many different bikes in the past and just today sorted my first bike for ages, a 2008 Daytona 675.

Unbelievably excited to get back on a bike. Guess I used to be medium-ish speed (in my own head) but will be needing stabilisers for the comeback!

Would love to do some track days and trips as I build confidence again. Shame my NCB is out of date though, I'm getting rinsed by the insurers hence the bike choice but always wanted a crack on a 675, they look awesome.

Spare time is spent in the gym or down the range.

Hello, Matt Stones from Doncaster, finally found my way over to this new site.

Still on the buses and still on a Triumph, albeit a Street Triple now which is a better bike for me than the Daytona 650, mainly because it doesn't try to cripple me on longer rides and I like the triple engine's power delivery. Quick pic..

It's a Powerbronze

Seems to work quite well at giving me somewhere to duck out of the wind blast at interesting speeds, without it I got a left/right vibration on my helmet which made it very hard to see at 95+ and the Triumph screen needs 3 holes drilling in the flyscreen. I didn't fancy taking a drill to a £100 ish part.

Hi, I'm Darren.

I'm a 47 year-old carpet installer from Orange, California. Started riding in '05.....in January I came off doing triple digits....I now have a new aftermarket hip and a ceramic femur balljoint for my trouble...had to learn to walk again and all kinds of fun stuff like that....haven't worked or ridden since, although I hope to start riding again in the New Year (if I can stop falling down!!)

Hello Darren. Aftermarket parts are known for being lighter and better performing than the originals, so it's all for the best.

Well, the metal & plastic hip sets off metal detectors, which is kinda fun.

Nice to see you here Darren, I can personally testify to the advantages of Hi-Tech hips as you know, learn to stay upright on them and you'll have it cracked. Be well and be happy matey.

It's like it just 'gives out' without warning....ended up flat on my face the other night. :D

Overall I'm happy with it though...it moves around a bit, but to be fair I did an awful amount of damage down there, they did a good job of fixing me up.

Just following normal forum etiquette, thought I would introduce myself.

I'm Rig, I live in the West Midlands and ride a Honda CBR1100xx Blackbird (also known as Flo.....the bike not me!)

I've been riding motorcycles for over 27 years, married with kids, 1 dog, 1 cat, 30 chickens and 5 duck!
