Depends. Anything from a few months to a few years, it depends if there are any other issues and how the body responds to chemo. They'll know more once they've got the test results in.

I didn't see this post originally but bloody hell, that seems to be a fast advance from diagnosed to looking at a care plan.
I hope you and all your family are equipped to deal with it and let us know if there's anything we can do for you.

Cheers Cav. I suspect that my mum will be around for a few years yet. There's no way she's going to give up when she's still got plenty of moaning left to do

Haha love her! Well I hope she shows it a good fight. I haven't had a chance to research it but if it is curable I hope she can move on from it, if it isn't I hope she has a very long and comfortable life left to live

Sorry to read this, Kwacky.
I looked it up as MiL has acute myeloid leukaemia. It seems CML becomes AML in many cases.
MIL was due to start another course of injections this week but she was complaining of pains in her mouth and throat and they gave diagnosed an infection so the course has been put on hold.
Not great times, TBH.

Sorry to hear this kwacky I hope you and your family are OK.
There is a lot of suggestion that alternative medicine can be effective fighting cancers. Is this something you have looked at?

My mum is in hospital. She's got an infection but they can't work out what it is. She's got a lot of Corona symptoms but the first test is negative. Her blood count is poor but they can't give her a transfusion until they deal with the virus or infection. She's on her own and no one can visit.

Not nice times, Kwacky. I hope she gets sorted ASAP.
The frustration of not being able to visit a seriously ill relative is heartbreaking.

I spoke to get this morning and she sounded a little bit scared. She just wants to see someone.

It’s worth speaking to the senior nurse on duty and saying you want to bring some things in for her. That’s how we got round it and it’s totally dependent on the nurse on duty on the day.

Her husband had tried that. He's got to leave things at reception and they'll pass them on.
