If they were removed there's no point in being British in my opinion, change our name, change our flag, change Buck palace into flats and fill them with people who can't be bothered to work etc etc as that's all government would do. But this is my opinion we will never get rid of them they will stay part of this country and us for ever and ever...well until a massive asteroid lands on our planet and makes the world go bang and we will be as dead as the dinos

It’s more about what the monarchy stands for than the individuals involved for me.

Not sure that reads correctly.

It’s the elitism and privilege that comes with the monarchy and all the related aristocracy that I don’t like.

I'm no royalist, quite the reverses, but to be fair to the Queen she's done a very good job. The problems will come when and if we're forced to accept Charlie.

Surely Charles will do the decent thing and pass it over to his son?

Problem is that a President isn’t a lot better than a Monarch.

Well I think the Royal Family are great.....they generate TONS of tourism $$$ for the UK, take a lot of criticism for a ton of not-very-good reasons, and still they manage to endure.
Sure, they could be 'deposed' or whatever...but to what end goal??

I think they bring a lot more to the UK as a whole than they could ever possibly take from it.
Sure....they're a bit of an anachronism in the modern era....but so what??....a lot of things are, doesn't mean they're bad or wrong.

For me it has nothing to do with them being royal family as to why I'm sick of it but the same reason Id be sick of any other celebrity wedding in that I don't know these people, they have no effect on my life therefore I don't care. Id be exactly the same if it was 2 movie stars or musicians or anyone else I don't know getting married.

If I were in line to be king I wouldn't bother with all the endless travelling come rain or shine, the speeches, the charities they expect you to go to and help out with, helping in the horrible areas of the world and putting myself at risk, serving in a military force with a bounty on my head...oh wait I would because that's what they Do! These people do it for us, they do it for Britain, they give us a great name around the world. They give back more than they take.

I wouldn’t disagree with some of that Ross, like I say she does a good job.

But the real test will come when she dies, will modern Britain accept accession by birth?

'Course they will....they'll accept it and they'll love it....just like when there's a new Pope.
A few patchouli-soaked closet-Bolsheviks will make their voices heard, but they'll soon be swept under the carpet, which frankly speaking is where they belong. Fcukin' hippies.
