I have to say that I suspect if it were not the fact that Michael Schumacher is a money-making industry for many, i think his life support machine would have been switched off months ago.

Hmmm. I know they intended to move him as the hospital said there was nothing more they could do.

Surely if he's come out of the coma he needs to stay in hospital?

There was talk of them building a facility for him at his enourmous home.

Sounds to me like he's in a vegetative state or near to it. He can breathe etc for himself and is conscious, but not as we know it.

My speculation I know, but with no details you have to fear the worst :(. That's worse than death IMO.

An amazing person IMO. This is very sad indeed.

I don't know how this is good news. Twitter is full of people saying its good news too. Where is the pic of him smiling or any kind of description of his state.

It's very strange IMO.

I wonder if the family are taking him home to say goodbye? I know it doesn't sound nice but it's an option.

I think the press statement has been very carefully worded.

I hope he can make some sort of worthwhile recovery.

I must admit I speed read the report, so I suppose I was already thinking, "going home" meant being in a position to get better. I suppose it's wishful thinking.

Nobody knows, that's the strange thing about the statements. You could be right, so could I

A former Formula One doctor has criticised the announcement that Michael Schumacher has emerged from his coma, warning that the 45-year-old is still unlikely ever to make a full recovery.

Dr Gary Hartstein attacked Schumacher's management over what he considers 'triumphal' claims, saying it was 'not news', and branding the announcement 'highly cynical' and 'almost certainly false'.

Schumacher was yesterday transferred from Grenoble University Hospital in France, where he been since his accident on December 29, to a rehabilitation clinic in the Swiss city of Lausanne.
