Caspyn Midsummer Gin.

My MiL bought me a miniature to try as a holiday gift from their recent trip down to Cornwall and I subsequently bought a couple of bottles online as it was excellent!

Finished this off last night, it’s from my mates distillery. I’d hate to guess how many litres of the stuff I’ve put away since he started 4 yrs ago!

Gordon’s freezer Martinis, several of. (d) (d) (d)

It’s been a solid fortnight of 4-5am starts and 7-8pm finishes due to staff absence. Every now and then cutting loose is just what the Doctor ordered.

G&T, trouble is the temp (31°C) is diluting the drink too quickly, that’s using a heavy bottomed glass previously frozen down to -15°. I love the heat, but it does have a few downsides.

Any tips for keeping drinks cold for a sensible amount of time from residents of proper hot climates?

I used to keep my vodka in rhe freezer.....it doesn't freeze it, just thickens it up & makes it a bit like syrup.

But alcohol by it's nature is just going to warm your body's core temp up a bit.

Not worried about it warming me up tbh, but fwiw I’m already doing the freezer thing with the gin (and voddy (devil) ). But I appreciate the help. (y)

Thinking on it I reckon what’s needed is some form of refrigerated coaster/drinks holder. Downside is it’s a small market in the UK on any other year than 2018. Huge market elsewhere though.... (happy)

This time next year we’ll be millionaires! 8)

Oh yeah.....there's those can-holder things....made out of foam. Stops your hands, the sun, etc. from heating the liquid up.

I have used my Stainless steel or pewter mugs before, but generally just drink faster before the ice melts!!!

In an effort to reduce calories from tonic I do put about half a glass of ice in, cover that in gin and top up with tonic. Doesn’t work out 50:50 due to the ice volume but keeps its cold for a lot longer

Keep it in a thermos flask close by your glass??

OR!!!.....And this is just an idea that I would never dream of putting into practice.....
Pour your frosty beverage into a Camelbak, and wear it UNDER your jacket when you go to the movies. Allows you to enjoy an aperitif during the film, instead of waiting for the usual post-film pub-crawl.

I know, on a school night.
