A Good Year with Russell Crowe, one of my favourite films, although it bears no resemblance to Peter Mayles book which it’s allegedly based on.

The news.
A motorcyclist in Florida was killed instantly yesterday after having been struck by lightning.
It seems the lightning struck him square in the head, going straight through his helmet visor, hitting him full in the face.

It doesn't even bear thinking about.

Oh no....he wouldn't have felt a thing, I'm sure....but can you imagine the first responders?? One of those "Just when you thought you'd seen it all" moments.

Lightning is a funny thing. Sometimes there's very barely a mark. Other times it looks like a body has been in a microwave.

I think this guy had one of those "Let's open the Ark Of The Covenant" moments, by all accounts.

Watching entertainment news, and wheelchair-bound actress Ali Stroker receiving a Tony Award.
They gave her a standing ovation, the sick fcuks.

Sports......and the women's US soccer team is getting slammed for destroying Thailand by 13-0 in a World Cup game.
Critics are saying that they should have lightened up against the opposition after the win was in the bag.
I'm not sure what to make of that. Part of me says the subject would never have come up if it was the mens teams that were playing. Opinions?

I'm not sure of the system used in the womens world cup but goal difference can mean the difference between qualifying for the next stage or not in the mens game , I say bang in as many as you can , once you have a healthy lead substitute a few players and see how they work as part of the core team or to help rehab of players with small injuries etc .

I was struck by lightni g when 16. Not nice. The main bolt hit the girl sat next to me in the field. The underwrite of her bra attracted it. Killed her instantly. It paralysed me from waist down for a short spell. And threw another girl who was stood up next to us 10 feet across the field.

In mens' football they got complacement and start to play a lazy game - rarely will you see more than 6-0

Brilliant. Definitely worth a watch. IMDb rating 9.1 and that's a fair rating.

I really enjoyed it.

I might do a new thread about it this evening, there's a lot of stuff they missed out and a lot of backlash since it's been shown.
