I thought about going for a run in the snow but then the mother-in-law-to-be came round with her dogs so we all went out for a play in the snow instead.

I'm always surprised by how grippy snow is!

Our snowfall was pitiful near me but I live so close to the river (and our altitude is something like 20m from sea level) that we're always about 2 degrees warmer than the rest of the country during winter - sadly means limited snow!

I went for a run yesterday in the snow.. was good fun in the woods but she was a sh!t on the common.

I've been for another run today and covered over 4km in about 27minutes I think. Today run was surprisingly comfortable - 2x 8 minute runs with a 5 minute rest. I set PRs for 2 miles (21:18), 1 mile (10:17) & 1km (5:48).

I'm noticing how much easier my lunch time walks are as well, conversations while walking briskly are easily manageable now.

1 thing I will say though - I'm not seeing any weight loss signs yet whereas I know I would have if I was at the gym. It does make motivation harder to come by.

Good session with my trainer. A mix of HITT with weights. I'm battered.

So today's run was a bit cruel..

2 days ago I did 2x 8min runs with 5mins rest between. Today I did 1x 20 minutes of running. Including the 10 minutes of warm up and cool down walking I totalled 4.3km - my highest distance covered yet.

I definitely ran slower with an average pace of 7.11/km compared 7.05/km from the 8/5/8 run. Good sense of achievement though.

Will do another run at the Beacon Saturday morning with the dog off the lead which will be nicer for her

Lovely morning run with the pup in tow.

Went through the woods again, explored a "shortcut" which looked like some downhill MTB stage - jumping roots, swinging on tree trunks to make a turn as I wasn't going to slow down in time and I got kinda lost haha

Total distance 5.6km, moving time 37:20 and a 5k time of 35.32.

This was doing:
5min warm up walk
5min run
3min walk
8min run
3min walk
5min run
3min walk
5min run
then a warm down walk to the car.

Elsie (pup) is flat out now bless her

Turning into the Cav thread in here....

I week 6 run today:
10mins run
3mins walk
10mins run

4.6km in 31mins.
PR for 1mile (9:26)
PR for 1km (5:47)

Surprisingly easy and my breathing recovery is about 20 seconds. Legs recover in about 1 minutes

Pah...

10.5 miles of some very hilly trails today.

You might have noticed a difference in training styles, I have no plan when I go out. I just run.

I have noticed.. haha

I'm following the Couch to 5K simply because I'm not a runner and I want to improve in a structured way. Who knows... I may end up being crazy like you ;)

I've done the structured training, I'm also a member of a running club when I need it again.

At the moment I just need to keep fit and keep the spare tyre under control, so just running suits.

I do have a marathon in less than 4 weeks though, so I should probably do a bit of real training for that.

Lol... good luck with that endeavour! I'm sure you could just turn up and do a marathon anyway haha

Good chest session last night. My shoulder is holding steady. My 4th set on incline press was with 20kg dumbbells. I know that's not a lot for some of the hulks in here but it was my 4th chest exercise and it was done without any pain in the shoulder.

Shoulder press is not an exercise you want to do without great thought and consideration for the joint. 20kg isn't light for that exercise.

Technically I should be able to shoulder press 43kg dumbells because I can do hand stand push ups but I could probably only do 25kg.

I also have a weak shoulder where it popped out from doing dumbell press so I know it can go wrong

Nice! I plan to do the same 5km route as last week this afternoon... Considering taking Elsie's mummy with us too.

Today's run is a 5min warm up walk, 25minutes of running, 5min warm down.

5K took just over 35 minutes last time so fingers crossed I can do 5km in this one jaunt

Got on the big weights last night for the first time in ages. I've not done deadlifts for months so I took it easy, keeping the load lighter than usual but upping the reps. Form was good but chuff me it shows I've not done them for a while - I'm aching in new places today.

My shoulder is still holding up. After some lighter sets I managed two sets of 8 reps on 65kg chest bench press which is a new PB for me. 130kg on the upright row as well. My back is a tad stiff today.
