Mother in law has told the wife this morning she has had enough and if she was able to jump out the hospital windowto end it all then she would.

Doctors have effectively subjected her to two weeks of suffering in the hospital by filling her full of expensive and powerful drugs that just make her feel worse.

Why oh why is it acceptable to subject humans to prolonging life for no good reason when we treat beloved animals in the opposite way?

Because it's not very Christian to allow someone to end their suffering.

The church still has a lot of sway in this country

I don't know about other denominations, but the Catholic Church doesn't ascribe keeping people alive "at all costs"...contrary to popular belief, apparently.
There's a criteria for that stuff, but I don't know the precise details. Prolly includes phrases like "undue suffering" & "beyond hope of recovery ", etc.

The press... It's no wonder the British public don't know what's going on with the country.

So who wants to tell me what Halifax said about house prices today?Image

How could prices be in decline between April and June when house sales were not allowed?

To position your house to sell quickly when the moratorium on house sales is lifted??

I don't know if this is a rant or not.

Several weeks ago I ordered a pressure washer and a set of lights for the pushbike. Both in stock. Delivery in a few weeks.

3 days later I get an email telling me my order is on the way.

2 days later I get the pressure washer but no lights.

The website confirms the lights are still in stock and on their way. Delivery due with the pressure washer, which the website confirmed had been delivered.

I give it a couple of weeks and nothing. So I start to chase Halfords. Sadly their online system is geared up for collecting in store.

After a few more weeks I've had enough so I bombard them on their site, on Twitter and via email.

I finally get an email to say they've not got the lights and they don't know when they'll get some. So they've cancelled the order.

I get 3 emails confirming the cancelled order and the refund for the lights. All good.

This morning I get an email to confirm that the order has been filled. A bit odd but I guess that's their process.

Then another email from halfords to tell me my order is on its way.

Then another email from DPD that my order is on its way.

And yet another to confirm when I can expect my parcel.

And in that hour slot my order for lights arrived.

Did you get a refund and the lights?

It really infuriates me when this happens because you don't know what's going on. I haven't personally had anything delivered through Halfords so haven't dealt with them before but I've had it with some sites.

Yep. Refund and the lights.

I'm now confused because I don't know if I'm going to be charged again.

Not so much a rant as we got what we wanted in the end, but they should have just been reasonable with my wife from the outset and thats what annoyed me.

My lads bed broke a couple of months ago and despite being covered by warranty we couldn't get a replacement or repair organised due to lockdown restrictions.

We had it in writing that it was a manufacturing defect and we were covered by the 10 year warranty as the bed was 3 years old.

Someone phoned from Marks and Spencers last week and told my wife they could no longer repair the bed so they offered her 50% refund and quite insistently said if she didn't like that she would have to go to the Ombudsman. My wife said she wasn't happy and they should call back and speak to me.

I spoke to a very nice lady today who offered me a new bed to the same value, which is good as we originally bought the bed with 30% off, but she honoured the full price and for the inconvenience she offered me a 50 pound e-card in good will.

I was satisfied with that and it was a very pleasant and reasonable conversation. Why couldn't they just do that for my wife in the first place (swear)

People that wrap exhausts on motorbikes... :@

It might look ok the day you do it, but it degrades and looks ratty pretty quickly and it holds moisture around the pipes and leads to corrosion.

I've just been browsing thruxtons, street cups and street twins and so many of them have had there headers wrapped.
I was close to buying one last break but with all the COVID crap and work uncertainty I'm not committing to it at the moment.

Do you know what, I've never considered that fact. I've always thought they become pretty mean looking wrapped but your explanation makes total sense, it never occurred to me that it would lead to corrosion and therefore damage the headers. I'm going to start looking at them differently from now on

My GB had wrapped headers when I got it. I stripped it off and the pipes were corroded beyond repair. I’m sure they were probably wrapped to hide some corrosion to start with but they were practically flaking apart after removing the wrap
