I only put the heating on at I could dry my gear. But it's still wrong.

Is there a reason why people turn the heating off?

I just leave ours on, but obviously if the thermostat doesn't call for the heating it wont kick in. Makes sense to me as it comes on automatically if needed and stays off if not required or am I missing something?

We knock it back a few degrees in late spring so it doesn’t come on needlessly early or late in the day, we never worry about a cold bathroom as we’ve got an electric heated floor.

I highly doubt it's locals. The police over there are old school and don't take kindly to that type of behaviour. Talking of which, make sure you stick to the speed limits -the police and courts are very very tough on speeders.
Yes all day absolutely fine no issues.

The speed I realise it's no joke here. We've been warned by the locals when out and about, aboit this. They are so friendly here, just an amazing community

By turning the heating on I mean flipping it to manual and cranking the setting up. Otherwise it's like DG's, set to a minimum

Why set lower and than have to manually intervene when it's cold?

If you leave it where you like it and if it drops below that it comes on automatically and isn't heating a house from a colder starting point so hasn't to be more efficient too.

Because my wife and I generally prefer a cooler house and like having fresh air come through, so once it starts warming up we have the windows open. Opening the windows drops the temp so the heating comes on.

It really isn't a big deal to manually intervene when I need the heating on. It's not like to need to bring some coal in and fire up the boilers. I just flick a switch.

Makes sense Kwacky (y)

Can't believe how cold it is in June. Had a jumper and winter coat on this morning walking my lad to school.

London traffic. I don’t drive around London on a regular basis anymore, but today was enough for a lifetime, I filled in for a colleague today and took 5 hours to drive 10miles. What makes it worse is that I got calf pump from continuous accelerator/brake half way over Tower Bridge, which is 4 miles into the trip.
P.S. I’ve got to go back....

If only Blade, unfortunately like a snail I carry my work home (and kit) around with me, so it’s not an option, would be nice, but sadly not so.

No, fortunately Wednesday’s epic was just a regular day, but I was filling in for a colleague that lives in London,

I’m back there tomorrow and yes that is just down to ignorance/stupidity on the part of the Operator and tbh I’m surprised they haven’t had a massive failure because of it, blind luck I guess.

Car complexities.

We bought a new car last month, have only used it a few times. Anyway yesterday it refused to move - locked the gearbox (it's a DSG), nothing going on so it's broken. :^ I tried everything sensible, checked doors, brake switches, fuses, charged the battery all sorts - nothing.

So i spent yesterday afternoon sorting out mechanic, recovery etc etc (all under warranty thank god). It was going to be picked up this morning, so i get in it to clear it of personal items etc and thought - i'll just start it and give it a go.

It works fine - straight into gear, took it for a drive, no problems. Stopped it and locked it and came back to it 30 mins later - still fine.

So i've cancelled all the warranty / recovery work as there is seemingly nothing wrong. (deadhorse)

Cars are way too complex now.

Yes i'm glad it's useable again, but FFS.
