I'm British. If I can't talk about the weather I'm going to struggle for conversation.

It's a contentious one to me, Kwacky.. You're contracted to do X number of hours for X much money therefore the majority of your work should be able to be done in your working hours the majority of the time.

What I don't like seeing happen to people at work is they get so much dumped on them, they work through lunch and stay on late then get even more dumped on them because they managed it; making a rod for their own back.

Occasionally sh!t happens, delayed supply etc, and you may have to stay late or during lunch but only occasionally

I agree with you. I've changed jobs in the past because I was expected to do 11 hour days then take stuff home. That's taking the piss.

But she never ever works beyond her hours, ever. Last week I stayed over for 1.5 hours just to clear up a backlog. Since then I've been leaving work on time. It's not too much to ask if you're so snowed under (she's not) to do a little bit extra.

If I'm working for a small family run business then I wouldn't mind doing a bit extra now and then , I'm not doing that if I work for a huge multinational just so my immediate superior can look good on the monthly reports not without financial compensation

It look like I'm alone on this one then. I guess we're all different. I don't mind putting in extra hours from time to time. In this line of work you're going to find your options to be limited if you insist on working to the contracted hours. Last week I had an early start for a conference, yesterday I was home late after a meeting.

The flip side is that my bosses have always been flexible with me. If I've needed to come in late or leave early then there's no problem.

If it's a give and take situation then I'm all good , that rarely happens in very large firms /corporations in my experience but in small - medium sized enterprises is more common .

Best wishes to your Mum Perkles , hope she makes a speedy recovery .

Some positive news this morning the consultant doesn't think the growths are cancerous but she also has one on her brain, they are pressing on nerves hence the pain
A scan and biopsy today will confirm if they are non cancerous ,he did ask why her gp was so trigger happy
Fingers crossed it's better news after the scan and biopsy

Myself.

Our furniture doesn't fit. We measured multiple times and we double checked; they're correct. What I didn't account for is my own stupidity of using the wrong measurements for my calculations. I've now had to buy a new, smaller (1200 instead of 1600) radiator to give us 80mm more space (mounted width) which allows everything to fit. I also have to remove the skirting board, move the pipework, move the bracket, filler & paint all this weekend. This is all while I have two outstanding assignments for Uni due in in the next two weeks.

Oh, and the furniture doesn't even arrive waxed !!!! :@ :@ :@

It'll look nice when you've finished :D

It does happen to the best of us. We bought two big wardrobes a few years ago now - we measured twice etc etc. When they came i realised they didnt fit as they had cornices on the top that stuck out. We were never really happy with them after that.

At least you have the skills to sort the problem! (y)

Ebay

Again

I sent an item back. I had until 5th March. It was posted and signed for by 26th Feb. Ebay closed the return and now the seller is saying he won't give me my money back because Ebay closed the return. I've told him what my paypal address is but he's refusing.
