Sorry to hear it mate.. fingers crossed it'll see you through anyway (y)

Minor vent in comparison - computers.

I have a CAD PC so it's pretty quick, however, my Excel spreadsheets destroy my computer. These spreadsheets are necessary for data analysis and testing of new products.

The PC was hanging and crashing when I tried to save the document and it ultimately lost all my work. I got another 8GB of RAM and it was better BUT only for new spreadsheets. If I save it, close it and reopen the document the PC is mega slow again!!!

This is off the back of losing my PC for 3 hours while they troubleshot an issue with installing a new software item yesterday and a load of other issues I've had previous.

I'm going to vent about my Uni mate again :D

He is a bloody disaster frankly. He wanted to come in the car as he had not been to France for many years and wanted to see the country on the way down. I said that's a good idea as you see the country change as you get further south, different architecture, different colours etc. He slept all the way down almost (thats important for later in the rant). So a waste of time in terms of company or experience for him.

We got here, i was knackered as i'd been driving 13 hours since 4 in the morning. He'd done a lot of sleeping.

First night we all went to bed at 10 - nice early night.

Myself and Mrs C get up at 7:30, things to do, nice day, happy to be home, happy to be in France etc. When did he get up? 3pm in the fecking afternoon! Incredible. Then wants breakfast!

So yesterday we took him out to the shops to have a look at the local town, get a feel for things etc. We then took him to the pub (we were going anyway) - i'll pay for the drinks he said, my treat - great i said - thank you. Did he pay? Did he fook.

Last night he said he'd wash up, so we left it - we went to bed before him (he wasn't tired - what a surprise). This morning i had to wash up a mountain of dishes. Great.

This morning - its now 11:40am - no sign of him. I have no idea why he is here, he might have well have stayed at home frankly in his pig sty.

I don't know this guy anymore and i'm not sure i want to anymore. No drive, no conversation, no help.

We love having people to stay and we've got some good friends and family who do - they muck in, we have good chats, drinkies and enjoy each others company. It really makes it worth it and our summers.

This is the first time since we lived here i want to get rid of a guest - not that that is possible realistically as we are in the middle of nowhere, but if i could dump him at the bus station easily, he'd be dumped.

I'm going to have to have another word but i hate it - uncomfortable in our own house FFS.

He's also going on ignore now - i'm going to pretend he's not here. If you get off to a bad start with me, your on a loser - which is a shame as it's not in my nature to want to be unpleasant.

Every day is an education, thats for sure.

Roll on other visitors to reset my view :D (doh)

Jesus. What an arse.

If you want to live like a slob, fine, but not in someone else's house. Their house, their rules. You live by them and you show your gratitude to them for letting you in. My parents taught me that and hopefully my kids have learned the same.

I would have thrown him in the pool by now.

The pool is clean wouldn't want to dirty it.

Still no show. 1:40pm.

First thing he's being told is that next meal is 6pm, not when he gets up.

Mrs C is trying to calm down my killing instinct :D

I would make an excuse that something has cropped up Cookie and that he has to go.

He is taking liberties and you shouldn't have to feel like that in your own home.

If it were me it would be time to say goodbye. His choice if that's a nice good bye or get the fook out you tw#t kind of goodbye.

Might explain a few things as you don't treat friends the way he does.

I should have been more emphatic, sorry Cookie. Image

Sorry you're having to go through this mate.

From a positive perspective, this experience may help reduce the likelihood of you allowing a similar situation to afflict your little French haven in the future.?
Anyway fwiw I suspect that you may be better advised to carefully plan the exit strategy, rather than waste your effort & emotions trying to moderate his behaviour. -IMHO that^ will probably simply increase your own stress & the situation will increase the toxicity to your domestic harmony.

Meanwhile perhaps ensure that all your easily liquidated or acquired assets are secured.

Chin up, next year you'll hardly even remember this.

Well he came down at 2:00pm. I asked him if he didn't do mornings and he said no, but i'm starting to occasionally!

He's been told if he wants to eat, he eats with us - otherwise dont. We are not a 24hr buffet and that he needs to fit in. If he wants to stay in bed thats fine, he's out of our hair.

We went to bed late last night, so we need a sweepstake on when he gets up today! I'm in for afternoon thats for sure.

He's harmless but also useless i've decided. He's really changed since i last saw him and he mentioned borrowing a bike (pedal cycle) and going for a ride today, so thats him out the way and today sorted (if he gets up).

He knows i'm not happy with his behaviour, but i'm limiting my contact with him now and just doing my / our own thing. We have some family coming tomorrow for a few days as an overlap, so that will be fine and he can just fit in or stay out the way.

Mrs C had a go at him too, so he's had it both barrels.

I'm happy to help out people (maybe too much sometimes) but it's better than being uncharitable in my view, so if he gets some sleep while he's here great.

What wont happen is another visit from him - he's done.
