(facepalm) ^ Sorry, silly remark & not funny bearing in mind how seriously you'd take such issues.

If that's farenheit then it's about what we have here at the minute - lucky us!

A mate of mine emigrated out to Aus. He's a plumber. He's cancelled work as it's too hot for him.

It’s pretty insane to be honest. I’m barely stepping outside but it’s very intense.

It’s getting close to an Civil Emergency level in some areas

I do get it by the way, I'm only kidding.

At least with the cold you can put some more clothes on, only so many clothes you can take off when you're too hot - and it's apparently frowned upon to enter public spaces in the nud.. Gutted

I’m still happy to go and do yard work in the mid 30’s to high 30’s, but once it hits 40 it feels like a different monster. I use to ride home from the refinery in 40+ in full leathers a fair bit. wears you out.

I went to Florida for 2 weeks when I was 11, it was 110F every day we were there and I didn't give a toss.. it just felt warm to me then.

These days, I probably wouldn't enjoy it.

I did a trackday at 35C at Rockingham - that was horrendous. Drank over 5 litres of water and didn't pee all day as I was sweating so much.

Yep....did a trackday at Willow once where it was so hot I puked inside my helmet going around Turn 8. That was fun.

It was all down the front of my leathers when I pitted!! Rookie moment.

44 degrees is the most I've faced. That was in Turkey, I was about 18 or 19. It didn't bother me to me honest. Like Cav I don't think I could do those sort of temps now though.

I worked for 2 days at a customers place in SE London a few summers ago, it was showing 35°- 37°C and we couldn’t pour water into ourselves fast enough and were utterly wasted each day, I looked at making my own sports drink after that. Which, coincidentally I found out is what the SA guys and the American guys from hot humid States do anyway.

How do the Aus folks working in high temps deal with rehydration and maintaining electrolyte levels without washing yourselves out with water?

I’ve done 42-44°C on holiday in Sicily and Thailand, but if I’m not working it’s not so bad, plus you’ve always got a pool or a cool drink to refresh yourself with, makes a big difference not to be grafting in it.

Electrolytes are heavily used in industries I’ve been in and normally supplied by the company.
(NZ Air Force, RAAF contractor, Shell Refinery) and now working offshore there is water and pre made electrolyte stations at every external doorway, free issue drink bottles and electrolyte powder to name a few measures.
Random hydration testing is done everyday and you usually get picked 2-3 times a swing. People have been let go for repeated failing hydration tests.

Something I had never considered is how work rate is affected with heat. When it's cold, a worker is likely to be 80-90% of their usual work rate in comfortable temperatures but in the hottest temps of summer, working hours are often lessened and the work rate can be about 60% of normal - just because of how hot they're getting.

These figures are just guesstimates from people I know, particularly my Father-in-Law to be.
