The reason we have to quarantine on the way back is part of our agreement with Timor operating in their waters (was a split originally but the maritime borderline has been changed recently, long story) is to provide jobs for Timorese nationals. It’s why we used to fly via Timor pre COViD. So we have Timorese nationals on the platform. Therefore we are classed as if we have actually been in Timor.
The Timorese personnel were doing the same quarantine pre work as well, so that was wrapped up in the dropping of ours.
Initially we were getting exemptions on return to Aussie and I was just home isolating, but the govt had a change in heart due to our exposure to Timorese nationals and the fact they have no oversight of their quarantine process. It’s fair enough from the govt. point of view.
Although I liked the idea of more time at home, not a lot of people were happy with the increased risk with dropping pre-work quarantine, but it is costing the company a packet in leasing the facility and paying us overtime (1.2 weeks per trip) so they have been doing their best to get rid of it.

Had a physio session with the lovely Leila. There's more improvement in the shoulder, which is good.

Another 2 coats of paint in the nursery... in a different colour.
Did anyone realise it's a tough choice to decide which white to go for?

Ran into a problem with moving the radiator... only one place does 15mm to 8mm internal reducers near me and they don't open on weekends. No running water so having to stay at the in-laws.

A mixture of 8mm and 15mm on radiators is very unusual in a house. It won't be as good that's for sure.
Buy some push fit end stops for emergencies, always useful and then you can isolate a radiator.

I started the job after purchasing the wrong parts... I measured the pipe with the paint on late last night. 2mm difference was enough to not get a seal.

All new radiator valves/thermostats are 15mm but our house has 8mm pipe. Finding 15mm to 10mm wasn't a problem but few places stock 15-8.
The ones we are after are a fancy type of olive to be honest. You can buy them as a 1 piece or 3 piece. They get crushed as you tighten the nut and seal onto the pipe.
I can get the part tomorrow which is a good thing.

Today...... assembling a dozen computer monitors + stands.....a piece of wee-wee.
Tomorrow or Tuesday...."installing" them (eg. slapping them on to some desks).

Unfortunately the part didn't seal. We had to drain the system again and stay at the In-Laws for another night. The part worked on the thermostat side but not the valve side. I suspect it was due to removing too much material when scraping off the paint plus worst case tolerance of the part itself.
Ah well, I'll buy a 1 piece and 3 piece just to see.

It's difficult to make that stuff look neat. I've cut off the end of the pipe with the weird olive thing now anyway so we'll give this a go. If it doesn't work again, I have brand new 8mm pipe and we will solder a join on to hide in the trunking.

Fwiw I know exactly what you mean, and for many years I dispelled the thought of using the stuff. "Nice clean precise couplings" were my preference.
However over recent years I have realised just how much more efficient joints can be with just a smear of jointing paste. FYI my opinion was directly influenced by a chap I met who was a CORGI gas fitter, trained by british gas over 40y ago. He's semi-retired now but does occasional heating engineering jobs for trackday tokens. When a conversation we were having strayed onto plumbing connections, and my disdain for plumbers paste, he pointed out that gas connections MUST use paste. He claimed that he had never been pulled up on a weeping joint over his entire careerer.!

I recently had gas training and they said categorically to never use tape or putty for any brass connections and that threaded is better than soldered. I guess it's one of those things of learning from experience.
I went back to the plumbing place and told them the brand of the thermostat and valve. They said if they knew what brand I had, they wouldn't have sold me the coupler they did as that brand makes them too short to use that style. Instead, I have to use a 15mm-8mm solder coupler with an 18mm olive. I've also bought an 8mm straight solder coupler so that we can use brand new pipe for the exposed section. It should make for a neat job.
