Re: What are you doing today ??
Wondering if I will get to my specialist appt tomorrow.
I live over a major river, which has two bridges I can use to cross it. We have had so much rain in the last three days (and forecast for next 3 days) that both are at minor flood level and could be closed by the end of the day.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Well that escalated.
Went down to see the kids and take them out for lunch, they live on my side of the river, but where we went for lunch is on the other side. During the 1.5 hrs we were at lunch the river raised over 2m and both bridges closed. The closest bridge to me has completely disappeared for the first time in over 30 yrs.
Luckily their mum was on the same side at the gym.
So we’ve started to drive the 160km long way around and the ex and the kids were following. But she’s in a low sporty Mazda 6 and had to turn back. The only road that hadn’t been closed the way we were going was 1/2m under water, so only 4WD’s were getting through. They’ve gone back to her mums.
Jess and I are still trudging on, quick stop at McDonalds and they just lost power as I was typing this lol.
We haven’t got a choice but try to get through as Jess has thyroid meds she has to get.
Then I have to do it all again for my appointment tomorrow morning if I can.

It was crazy fast. It’s closed a few times since I’ve been lived here but that’s the first time they’ve never had the chance to drop the guard rails first.D41 wrote:2 metres in 90 minutes sounds amazingly fast....well into fash-flood territory.
So many trees coming down as well due to the earlier fires, heaps of trees had dropped and now they are all washing down.

Re: What are you doing today ??
Just drove 2.5 hrs the long way to get 30 mins down the road. Bridges look like they be out for a couple of days minimum.
So if I get cleared for work at this appt I’ll have to drive back home and pack and drive back this side of the river somewhere to get picked up for the airport. And find somewhere to leave my car for a week or so.
Still no power on at home.

Re: What are you doing today ??
so finally back out offshore and on my first night shift. Only out for 8 days to finish off my swing.
Had a good chat with the on shift Ops Super and his feeling is they are going to write the days off that i was away for, but its well above his position where the decision will be made, so not holding my breath.
Regardless, I've told HR I will not be paying the days back offshore if they determine I'm responsible for that time. I already owe the 9 days for going home for the fires. I said you can dock my pay, which ends up quite expensive as a multiplier is added due to our work roster system, but I'm not losing anymore custody days with my kids.

Been for another hearing test. It helped that she was young, fit and blonde with the figure of a female swimmer - curves in all the right places.
But she has pretty muhc confirmed what the consultant said that the bones in my middle ear are not working correctly so back to the consultant but it appears a hearing aid is the easiest answer.

Pardon?
TBH the tinnitus bugs me more than the hearing loss as i have had a fair few sleep deprived nights because of it.

Eh?
Hearing trumpet ?
Sorry to 'hear' this. We are all getting older. I wouldn't be surprised if my hearing is goosed now too tbh.

Re: What are you doing today ??
I get tinnitus, always have. I don't really notice it anymore but sometimes its really bad. Usually my hearing is pretty unaffected I just get the ringing but sometimes I actually go deaf in an ear, my balance goes and my eyes have to adjust then I get the ringing and the hearing comes back after a few seconds. I typically only get that when sat down thankfully
