Cav, sounds like you're right. He's probably worried if he stops he'll have time to take it all in.

Poor bloke, I think he's just using work to distract.
Probably the only touch of normality/stability he has left to latch onto at the moment.

This is what Jess is dealing with too, her dad has just this moment been moved to ICU. He’s been on dialysis for at least 5 years, just recently lost a toe due to infection from long term dialysis. Yesterday he went into hospital with suspected COVID. That came back negative but he has pneumonia, pleurisy, a blood infection and keeps dropping into defibrillation. Poor thing is beside herself and I can’t go back ;(

Bollocks. Please pass on my best wishes to Jess. It's horrible that people can't morn with family let alone comfort them in times of need. Fingers are firmly crossed for Jess' Dad!

Unfortunately I think you are right.

He’s a tough old bugger and he’s pulled back from the brink before so I hope that’s the case this time around.

Before her parents moved 3 hrs up the coast, her dad used to do home dialysis. Jess called around to visit and found him unconscious in his chair. The machine had sprung a small leak, not enough to trigger the flow alarms and he had lost a substantial amount of blood onto the floor and had passed out. He was very lucky she called in.

Well I learnt a new word yesterday its called Furlough. A practice better know in the states i believe, however due to situation we are in, the company has decided to shore up and protect the jobs for the workers. This means putting into practice the above.

Too be honest I cannot believe how busy i am right now, but the whole sales team and most of the internal's have been put on this, leaving a small crew to deal. If they need anyone back in sooner, then they can recall you at any time.

I have been supplying a fair amount of plant to the NHS via my supply chain and contractors for COVID popups, and hospital wards, ventilation equipment, (not the personal ventilators) but larger volumes equipment. So as of Friday I will be Furloughed.

So 1st thing I did last night was to get on the NHS volunteers web site to see how I can help deliveries of medical to vulnerable people. They have suspended this for now, as they have over 750,000 signed up already. Wow just goes to show how with all the muppets out there, we have a massive amount of great people in Great Britain.

So I will waste a few days doing feck all, then I will get very bored, as I wont be able to work at all, not even a little bit..... so I will tackle the garden first !!! LOL, I know.......and see how it goes. The company have been good in a way, even though they do have the ability to top up the min wage you get, they have not mentioned this, but they are not starting this until May, so for April at least I will get a full flat wage. After two months if I have not been called back sooner, it will be looked at again. I do think I will get called back sooner, I have so many things in the air waiting to drop, not all of the in's and outs can be logged on the crm (customer notes basically) its all in my head.

So there we are, belt tightening to come, saying that, with not being able to go out, and everything shut down, there is not a great deal to go and spend on, so bills, and food will be the outgoings for a bit.

Cheers mate, i think it is a knee jerk reaction to be honest, and with all company who manufacturing is not uk based, we are the most expensive over head from an accounts point of view. In their view they are protecting our business and job for the future.

As we know as sales people, this is utter bull crap, without sales people, face to face or on line is essential to provide the important service. Granted I am not hitting new people and promoting new products, but fire fighting and supporting is the role. And as we all know, people buy from people, and they trust me or my colleagues for that support.
Company can call you back anytime, so lets see.

Once on furlough it has to be a minimum of three weeks, I think. They cannot call you back in that time.

As it stands its only available up to the end of May as well. I can't see the Govt going beyond the end of June with it if they do extend it.

Cleaned the car in my long lunch.. very therapeutic. Got complimented on my snow foam by a female passer by. Turns out she (about 3 years younger than myself) did a stint on a TV channel such as Babestation or alike. This is what my Wife told me.
