Went sledding with the kids this morning, then a 4 mile run in the snow.

Spent the afternoon editing photos and chilling out a bit.

Went for a lovely drive in the snow - I was clean out of painkillers. I also picked up some bits I had ordered on click and collect while out.

The rest of the day has been organising all of Baby Cav's stuff into storage boxes and putting them in the freshly finished cupboard. Storing push chairs and alike isn't great though.. bloody bulky!

Been out for a walk. We had to bring the dog back as she wasn't enjoying it, it's starting to get icey under foot. We then went out for a stroll around the fields. It's nice to get some air in your lungs after a day in the chair.

Despite spending about 4 hrs on hold, today has been both costly and productive , I managed to wangle a new deal from Virgin for my phone and broadband 50% more speed and £12 less than current , then maxed out my overdraft buying a new computer my current one has issues that I am working around gradually more of it is failing so it's time for a new one , usually build my own but parts are extraordinarily expensive and impossible to source , so I have ordered a pre built one that I configured myself from Box - a fairly reputable computer/electronics retailer in Sutton Coldfield .

How did you manage that with Virgin? They have been absolutely shocking for me and blame my poor broadband performance on my smart light bulbs... absolute morons. They gave me a £2 credit because I was unhappy. I barely get 5MB some days and I'm paying for 45+

I threatened them with the ombudsman , plus until today I was out of contract so could leave with no penalty so I was adamant about the deal I wanted and the price I wanted which they kept telling me was an offer for new customers only but I pointed them to the text of their advert which quoted the standard price and they became more compliant . I even got the activation fee waived , when I finally agreed terms the sales lady was very thankful , I had been hammering her for almost 2 hours not including the time on hold .

It pays to complain. I've had good results from Vodafone and Virgin by kicking off.

After having several good rants at BT over the years I think I've got a marker on my account that says "just give him free stuff and he'll go away".

The annual conversation starts with :

BT: Hello sir, what can I do to help you today?
Me: tell me why I pay you so much money!

It's a bit more difficult for me to be ringing and complaining while I'm without a phone currently.

I'm likely going to move to Sky for Broadband only at 67MB with £80 cashback. That is unless Virgin will allow me to transfer from my TV/Broadband/Phone package to the New Customer 100MB broadband deal.
