I was quite interested in this fact, so had a google.. Actually called the British Free Corps, formally the Legion of St George. Only ever got to 27 strong, but still an interesting tid bit I had never heard of before. Thanks D

That's the one!! I was closish on the name, but I thought their numbers were higher.

Google the German Jewish regiment that fought for Finland against the Russians......Germany & Finland made a deal....don't kill our Jews, but help us keep the Russians out.

At the MiL's for lunch today, feeling a bit sluggish after eating too much of a Tex-mex soup and salsa last night, I've got a bit of a black bean fermentation going on digestively, and that's not good in polite company. I may have an early bath. :D

A load of digging this morning and then out in the jag this afternoon. Won't get many more days were the top can be down without a coat :). I was going to take the bike but it's buried in boxes until I can clear it out later in the week. I feel a seasonal bonfire on the cards. Especially as we've been collecting sweet chestnuts :)

I've never had them before but heard good things. Any recipes or how to cook them would be very useful tbh.
We've just been collecting them (sorry wifey has) for a few weeks as there are loads of them around here. Loads of walnuts too :)

Fresh wet walnuts? You're just taunting us now Cookie... (gah)

Be careful with Chestnuts, in my limited experience with them they can go mouldy very fast, they need good airflow around them to prevent that if stored, old fashioned wooden plant trays etc work well.
However if you're just plain roasting them be sure to pierce the skin (or they explode) and turn them regularly to stop burning, the skins - the outer and slightly furry inner one, should peel off reasonably when cooked and the gem inside should be sweet and yummy.

Had an interesting case today... a lady comes into court for a trial on a drug impaired driving case I made on her. Between calendar call (where the defendant stands and acknowledges their presence and enters a plea) and when her case was called for trial, she left the courthouse. When she returned, the judge held her in contempt for being absent. The trial starts, takes about two hours at the conclusion of which she is found guilty. During my time on the witness stand I notice several officers enter the courtroom, and after the judge announces her verdict, they immediately descend on the prosecutor. It turns out that during the defendants absence, she'd broken into a house and stolen several things which were in plain view in her car parked outside (facepalm)

I've had some strange things happen during my career, but that's pretty unusual.

Macs case has left me speechless, this is a class of person I've experienced rarely, however Mrs Gee encounters them on an everyday basis as she's dealing with their kids in school, some of those kids are great but have seen altogether too much of life's seamy side by the age of 7. She's just about had enough of it as well, I feel for her.

Today I'll be chasing bin lids, fence panels etc around the garden in the gales we've got today, just went out in a squall to rescue the recycling boxes, the wind was close on 50mph judging from experience, I think you've picked a good day to be in bed Frankie.
