Had a look at the process of requesting today - I just need to complete a form and post it (great use of technology NHS), send a £10 cheque (who the Feck uses cheques anymore!) and wait 3 weeks for the CD of the MRI files

Taught my little girl her first 10 sight words. Goal is to have her reading before she starts school next year. Been a bit slack with her as with Byron having an insane memory, he pretty much taught himself how to read, and was doing so before he was 4. So decided it was time to pull my finger out. Luckily she's a bright poppet, and loves to learn.

Seriously, its more money than im on now and surely they should just be happy to get someone they think is better for less money then! (headbang)

Rob wrote:Just got back from the hospital regarding my knee follwoing my off at Snetterton.

Finally got a consultant appointment who had my MRI results. It appears the original dignosis of torn/damaged ligaments was incorrect as the MRI is showing torn meniscus cartilage. As it has now been about 7 weeks since the accident, I have not been to impressed. After the off I was given a leg brace (velcro/strappy type) and 2 crutches and sent on my way with no information on what to do. I decided after about 2 weeks to lose the brace and last week went down to 1 crutch. Due to the length of time not knowing what to do, there has been a bit of muscle wastage in my left thigh which I now have to go and have physio for (headbang) .

Regarding the cartilage, he has told me to carry on with nmormal activities and wait and see:
- if i feel pain
- if my knee locks up
- if my knee gives way
The giving way is the most likely as that is what is currently happening. If any of the above continue then I will likely have to have key hole surgery to replace or repair the cartilage.

Anyway, at least the ligaments are looking ok as that would have been a real PITA.
After my bike smash, I had an X-ray (that night) and said everything was fine and to go home and recover. Had a bit of trouble with my knees, but thought it would just take time. I then got summoned to go to a specialist. Went to see him, and he said he'd seen my images and thought it needed investiagating more. I had an MRI, and it confirmed damage to the meniscus cartilage in my knee.

I had an op and keyhole surgery. He cleaned it all up and removed the cartlidge. Up until then I had been suffering with my knee locking. Basically the loose cartlidge was getting wedges in places.

Only trouble is, to replace the cartlidge, they drill lots of holes into the back of your knee cap. Which isnt too bad. But all this does is promote growth of a fibrous tissue to replace the cartlidge. It is not cartlidge though, and he said it'll probably only last 10years. At which point I'll likely have arthritus. It depends on the person though he said, with regards to recovery and how long it lasts.

I've had a not dissimilar experience, messed up my knee sailing, next day it locked hyperextended, diagnosed as torn cartilage, saw a specialist and he carried out a keyhole arthroscopy (cut torn & ragged bits off the cartilage, flush out with sterile water after). Felt as good as new after a couple of weeks, can't even see the scars now, but they looked like two little Chinese eyes either side of the bottom of my kneecap. Still ok 14yrs on.

Just sat at home working an a bird flew into my window. Hit it very hard.

Went to look outside expecting to see a big fat dopey pigeon lying on the patio but there was a Sparrowhawk lying there looking very stunned.

Left him alone for a few minutes as my presence didn't seem to help matters and he flew off about 10 minutes later. Suspect he may have broken his leg but i would think a bird like that could survive with only one leg.

Lovely creature to look at.

I know it sounds stupid, but there is a reason. Companies are worried about taken on people that are over qualified as they may only stay for a short period of time before leaving. It costs a company a fair whack of cash to hire someone and the following induction processes.

Practically it doesn't make much sense as they are loosing out on good employee's, but they have probably had an HR consultant come and tell them the "best way" to run their company (facepalm) My last client had been given the same treatment, they wouldn't give me a reference after a 2 year contract as they had been told not to in case a previous employee sued for deformation of character (facepalm) (facepalm)

Thing is my job is so poor it is a step up, she told me there's career progression so if that's true I won't need to leave I can prove myself and move upwards, she told me they want a school leaver ideally, so a school leaver with no experience is Gunna go into that role and earn more than I currently do haha
