Rushed younger doggie to vets this morning, wound is healing but really weeping and not looking happy. Dog was not her normal self.

Turns out she has elevated temperature and wound infection. Vets are brilliant here - seen without appointment in 5 mins, vet does examination, flushes the wound internally, ultrasound, anti biotics, anti-inflammatories and new appointment on Monday morning to check. Just charges us for tablets.

Hopefully a small complication but it is a worry.

Doggie now knackered but sleeping - bless.

Waiting to see a consultant re my hearing problem. Decided to go private for this one as our limited private Health Insurance will cover 75% of the cost. Otherwise it was a projected 17 week wait on the NHS

Well that wasn't what i wanted to hear, or not as the case may be.

It would appear not to be fluid in the ear and the damage may be permanent. Got to have one more test to be certain.

Schuberth here i come. :S

20% in the middle to lower frequency. That can be helped with a hearing aid.

It's more the resulting tinnitus that bothers me as that is permanent .

Got to have a pressure rest before deciding on the next move. I'm definitely having some professional ear plugs made again though. I'm not convinced the foam things are much use.

I've never bothered work the foam plugs.

I've always preferred the Howard Leight reusable plugs.

Good foam plugs fitted right do work well. Been using them for the last 25 odd years for work around aircraft noise and process plants. The problem is most people don’t fit them well. They need to be tightly rolled, your ear pulled back towards the rear to open the cavity and slid in deep. This will probably disturb some people but I give them a quick lick to lube and they go in much easier. If you don’t have a little reactive cough to how deep they are, they aren’t deep enough.

I have a bit of hearing loss in the mid range, and it had been put down to badly designed ear muffs that didn’t seal properly early in my airforce career. It was a hearing specialist that recommended to me to use foam ear plugs.

Automation Engineer jobs are everywhere. Nearly as many as generic "Mechanical Engineer" or "Design Engineer" jobs
