Review went ok but it sounds like I'm not getting a pay rise

"you've not hit your target"
"I've moved teams 3 times"
"you've not hit your target though"
"the last person hasn't got a full case load, there's not enough work"
"but you've not hit your target"

sigh

This is why I'm glad we don't have specific targets at my place.. we effectively agree "targets" as and when work is started.

In terms of my review it's much a case of, "this is what i've done", "this is how I feel I performed", they tell me if that matches their perception of my performance, "this is what I want out of my role in the next 12 months", "these are the types of opportunities I would like", we agree on a performance grade, joke about our colleagues and carry on as normal.

If I don't hit my targets I get sacked, that's just the nature of business. If I can't do it, they get someone else to do it. Fortunately I hit my 2018 targets in March, so I get to stay for another year.

Thinking about it, bit of strange career for a socialist!

Not being funny mate but if you hit your targets by March, the company really need to up your personal targets.........

Nah f that, long f'ing holiday it is then ImageImageImageImageImage its the English way ImageImageImageImage

On a serious note. In my old place they upped our targets, they got rid of our bonues (which made the job pay pretty well at the time) and we 'couldnt' hit them because machines werent able to work correctly to those speeds. They spend thousands of pounds on a machine that didnt work and they didnt ask for their money back it hust sat their getting covered in dust (literally very dusty, hot humid and loud environment due to the nature of the work) They f'ed us in other words

On the flip side, the sister factory across the road had little targets and they used to say they hit them by half shift. I raised this point to the management...what did they say, they worked harder than us even though it was clean, fairly quiet nice enviroment.....ImageImageImageImage lost my sh!t walked out....left the job, now so much happier.

I think my targets might be a different kind of target than yours Ross. I’m an engineer like you, but I work in sales.

HAHA I don’t work my but off, I manage the risk of success or failure with varying degrees of effort. If I’m successful the company makes a profit, if I’m not it doesn’t and I get sacked.

Hence how my company probably views my targets differently than yours.

Yours I would guess are more about cost and efficiency.

If you don't get sacked, does that mean that you're sackless??

Sounds very interesting to be honest. Well above me though! Clearly you know your stuff Monty and have done for years the pressure must be difficult having that loom over you each year. Oh im not an engineer, so targets sre different, mines on a lot smaller scale!

Not a lot, it’s been a damn tough week and I’m up for recharging today, for starters I slept for 11hrs straight through, waking up at 10am. (Lazy B I know)

I’m sorting some pizza dough this morning, a quick trip into town for a few errands, sort out the spares box and paperwork for a bike Midi Gee and I are selling (old CG125 in terrible nick), and that’s about it. Easy day. (yawn)

The balloon has gone up at work.

My boss is out for the next 2 days. I asked her for some work but was told she's got nothing to give me.

So I've sent an email to the national head of the department making myself available for work for the rest of the month, at the same time dropping in a sly remark about not getting a pay rise due to a lack of work which is beyond my control.

Now either they give me the work and I hit my target, or they don't and they give me a pay rise.

My boss has disappeared into a meeting room and has been on her mobile phone for the last 20 minutes.

Nicely done mate, also makes you look eager as you are willing to take on more. You sly old fox ;)

I have just booked ticket for me and some buddies to go to the London Guitar show in September, If its anything like how the bike show normally pans out its gunna be messy, and potentially more expensive, its harder to come home with a new bike....guitars on the other hand......

Went to a motor show yesterday and took a look around. While there we saw Costco stand and as i work for Mars one of the privileges is we can get into Costco. So we signed up

Today we popped by. Ive never been there before. Its like they have shipped the whole shop from the states to here and just gone kaboom there you go Britain!!

What surprised me was they have a tyre fitting service too! So i popped by and asked do you guys do motorcycle tyres, they said that they can get them in but cant fit them as they havent got the equipment. I said thats fine!

So they said what Mitchelins do you want...i took a look around and noticed every tyre they have there are Mitchelins!! Well luckily for me i like Mitchelins! Couldnt get a price until tomorrow as their system was playong funny bugger but i guess they must have some amazing prices on them as it seems they only deal with them!
