Racism.

Post by D41 »

The UKIP thread is pissing me off....I'm not complaining, merely commenting...a lot of nationalistic BS being spouted.

Where do we draw the line with this stuff?? I'm not white, I'm not black ....frankly I couldn't give a toss what colour I am....and I don't know, so I guess that makes it easier.

Scotland recently voted that they didn't want to draw a line??

I wonder about this stuff.

Nationalism is different to racism IMO. I'm a proud Brummie and there aren't many more multicultural cities than this place.

And for the record proper racism is one of the few things I can't tolerate.

I'm afraid immigration is driving UKIPs popularity in the UK Darren. If recent governments had dealt with it, I don't think UKIP would exist.

It is...you're quite right....but I also feel they're very interconnected......for example, do you know what religion I am from the web?? (I'm using myself as a rough example)

It's enough for most....

I don't give anyones' religion a thought unless it's being discussed. I've had some blazing rows about it on twitter but that's why I like to use Twitter.

Me neither...unless it's some of the bible bashers pushing their luck.....I've forgotten more about religion than they'll ever know....and frankly most of their knowledge is shockingly poor.

I have friends and 'associates' from all races ... It doesnt bother me what their persuasion is.
I treat all as equals, I talk and regard people in the same respect I expect to receive

I am not and never have been racist, my grand son is a quarter caste. I am however anti illegal immigrant and I think only people with good skills and an ability to support themselves financially be allowed to come into the UK.

I'm afraid I don't really see the point of UKIP and I think the majority of the votes now will not be the same in a general election, or I hope not.

It hopefully is a way of telling present and future Governments that something needs to be done. It's not hard if you look at other European countries.

Ukip has a lot os closet EDL members and that I abhor.

The same as religion, I think the UK is great in that we have such a melting pot throughout. We should be proud to be part of a multi cultural society, the only time I will have a big problem is when other religions start to impede our very own beliefs as a country.

I want our schools to educate our youngsters in other religions but not at the expense of our own culture. I want multi faith schools who learn about each other but if I had young children at school now I would want them to celebrate Christmas and Easter without feeling embarrassed for those attending who don't.
There is a fine line between living happily side by side with multi faiths but our own must be kept sacrosanct
Live each day as your last as one day you'll be right !!

There's a baby 41??? Holy ****!!

I majored in religious studies....almost everything we did was based on other beliefs....let's face it, the bible is a pretty boring book at the best of times.

What? There's some great stories in the bible. You could make several disaster movies from it, or love stories, orphan tales are popular. Some of the psalms are soft porn. Think of war movies you could make.

No one is perfect and no country is amazing. Some countries won't allow women to be educated and that seems to be a UK problem...how? Racism isn't really a problem, it's what else is going on in the world is apparently our problem and we must get involved and stop it! We will forever be getting involved with other countries problems and all that will do is cause problems for us. We will be the maker of our own destruction!!

Loathe and detest racism in all its subtle forms, it doesn't matter one jot the colour of your skin or your facial features, what does matter is character, personality and an outgoing, hard working attitude.

As I posted yesterday I was at a parents evening last night for my lads new school - so the parents can get to know one another etc. My lads best mate there is Korean, I was chatting for a large part of the evening with a chap from Mumbai and my Wife was in a 3 way conversation with the chap from Mumbai's wife and the Korean lad's Mum. No onetouched on differences, we were chatting about the boys, sleepovers, homework and organising a decent coffee stall between us for the next school function as a fundraiser. None of us even thought about saying how well the boys are getting along because they're "different" - the boys don't care about anything more than their homework, Minecraft or the next big Xbox game, they don't care because we don't.
Racism is a learned behavior, it doesn't come naturally, the longer it's perpetuated the longer it'll be before we can all live happily together.

You're quite right, it's a learned behavior....I can pull it off round here 'cos I look totally Hispanic, and then have a very weird accent, which the Latinos love....you'll just have to trust me when I say that Hispanics can be EXTREMELY racist.

People are much the same the world over. Just speaking a different language, having different skin colour or having a different faith doesn't make their aspirations for life change much at all.

Fwiw I dislike all types of bigotry, and IMO racism is simply a specific sector of bigotry.

Frankly that is why I disapprove of organised religion; They inherently promote exactly those learnt attitudes.

I reckon the biggest display of racism I have seen is within the Indian race. There cast system totally thrives on it. I guess it's not theoretically racism as it is within the same race, but... the times I have been in Malaysia and Fiji, (both of which have large percentages of Indian populations) they showed the most contempt for the native races within both those countries.

At the refinery, we had quite a few Indian Operators, and the so called 'higher cast' ones used to treat the others like crap.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a way of life.
