Wanted to be a train driver when i was younger but never worked out and ended up a stunt double for porn films. Gutted it never worked out and still dream of being a train driver.

Then I became a Paint and Body lecturer, now I've moved colleges and now a Paint Specialist Lecture.

I want to move into product training or private training.... E.g upol or caterpillar etc.

Would love to travel around world and/or country teaching/training.

My bro in law is a car painter, and got into sales, worked his way up to regional manager for Dupont. He got sick of travelling and living in hotels so he's gone back to the shop floor as a self employed contractor and has recently taken on an apprentice. The technology of painting really impresses me, and his skill is insane.

I'm really happy to hear you are doing what you really wanted to do. If you want to travel you should look at opportunities in Oz, by all accounts good auto painters are getting harder to find, hence bro in law is contarcting and cleaning up.

Think I'm with a fair few people here, I wanted to join the RAF as a Gunner. I was stupid at school and quiet literally didn't care for my exams (even though I was pretty bright and would of got pretty good grade I decided to just mess around as I knew I didn't need anything as a infantryman. So at 16 I was pretty cocky and was given a choice, work (too young to fight so a civvie job) college or get out! I tried to get a job but couldn't for love nor money, then last week of summer holidays me mum came to the rescue and forced me to go to take a look at a college course (public services - very physical course to which was ace - climbing , kayaking, canoeing absailing , week long camping trips over Dartmoor and Snowdonia with real map and compass skills - just giving some grid references and we have got to get there at certain times) loved it was really me!

Then came 18th birthday I applied for the job, fit bright was in the cadets and got pretty high flight sergeant then medical I stupidly put something from my past and the doc stripped me off did to confirm I was medically fit and he said but your past is dodgy - looked in the massive book and it said not allowed to join the forces! So I tried the army and in this world with computers they could see that I was unsuccessful haha!!

Now working in medical supply plant and I'm in charge of 5 - 15 people.

Life planned out how I wanted it to hell no but that's what makes life different who really has the career they have dreamt of for years no one I guess!

In all honesty at 26 I couldn't do any of the stuff I used to be able to do and now I really don't even want to...imagine having to sleep outside in the cold when you know you have a comfy bed at home or digging a hole to crap in when you could be sitting on a nice clean toilet haha!

Not too dis similar to you blokes ,

Ever since I can remember I wanted to join the WRNS but as you couldn't join until 17.5 I decided to stay on at school and do A levels

Well that went down the pan as I got married at 18 , I left school at 16 and had a good job in Unipart in exporting. Left to have a baby at 21 and from there on in I worked in the family business which was never my plan.

Still I learnt to drive an HGV , not that there was much call for a female lorry driver then

My Dad started to change how the business was going and eventually it went from a haulage company to an industrial property company. About as dull as ditch water . I took over in 96 after his death and eventually sold everything as I couldn't stand the stress.

After the tax man has taken most of it I didn't think there was much point in earning any more so took early retirement and this year found a job working 15 hours a week in the local Triumph dealer in the accs. It has now dropped to 8 hours as things have slowed up

So that's the extent of what is a most tedious working life

I always wanted to be a stunt man, seriously I did .
I used to get the parents on the estate coming around moaning at mine, because I used kids as fodder to jump over on my push bike, or roller skates, or skate board ha ha. Never pursued it as a career. If FB existed back then I reckon it would have gone viral some of the stunts I did ha ha.
As it happens I ended being an electrical engineer, then moved onto selling the type of equipment I used to repair, and stayed in sales until this day.

Me too....in fact it's bloody Beethoven to me....I look at a piano and my eyes just glaze over. Everyone who plays keyboards says they're easy...well, they would the smartarses....I would have no clue whatsoever.

I had various ideas of what would be cool, but knew I'd never really be able to do it (fighter pilot, actor etc).

I wish I had followed the writer/journalist interest though.

I also went through a stage where I wanted to be a film camera man, or director or something like that.

And a park ranger, but the UK isn't quite the same appeal as a park in USA.

I am reasonably happy in what I do now though.

A park ranger can be a GOOD job in the US, depending on the park service you go with...plus you get a gun!!
