On this day..

David Jefferies lost his life when he crashed out and Jim Moodie was seriously injured when the telephone wires wrapped around his neck.

And in 1984 the Heysel Stadium disaster happened. 39 football fans killed because of football hooligans and their actions. I remember watching that at home. We had 2 french exchange students stopping with us. I didn't know what to say.

That bloody Heysel incident and the subsequent ban on English clubs cost us two seasons of European football and what would have been our first ever seasons in European football.

I remember seeing the crash. Moody was very lucky. No wonder he quit.
