Jerez Motogp- spoliers

Post by duke63 »

Marquez is no doubt the fastest rider of all time. But he never knows when to stop pushing sometimes to his detriment.

Wonder if that was a wrist break.

Well done, Fabio. Time to step up to the mark.

Márquez has a suspected broken arm.

If he wins the Championship this year, they may as well give up.

You have something in common with Márquez, Kwacky. He has broken his humerus.

He's not to wait weeks for surgery though.

Hopefully it's a simple fracture. He'll be back on a bike in no time

MM is a pure racer. He always goes for glory, for vixtory or the impossible, he never holds back and that was clearly his undoing today.

Michelin had warned the tyres would drop of a cliff edge after 15 laps, it was 20 degree hotter track temperature than previous races, MM had used more tyre than anyone clawing his way back from last and he had, had plenty of warnings / near misses.

There was fore sight what was about to happen, but as I say he is a pure racer and always goes for it. Today it was his undoing.

Still glad he puts it on the line every lap though (rock)

crazy race, I'm not certain it was tyre degradation that caused that high side for MM though, it looked to me he cut the apex too much and put the power down and spun it on the white paint.

Just watched chequered flag on Btsport and Hodgson examined the crash in slow motion, pausing and rewinding the action. His comment is he initially thought he touched too much kerb, but he then changed his comment on closer scrutiny and said all riders take a little kerb at that corner and in Hodgons words, Marquez was on the perfect line.

Hodgson offers no alternative reason for the crash. All I can assume is due to 20+ degree higher race temps, Michelins comments and how much harder Marquez was pushing than other riders, he had used his tyre up more than others charging through the pack.

Fair enough, I didn’t analyse it to that depth, just watched it a few times and thought it may have been the cause.

Regardless, shame his race ended that way as he was riding liking a f**king weapon.

The Moto2 race where he goes from dead last on the grid to winning it, is arguably one of the best races ever.

What makes that feat even more spectacular is there all using the same spec control engine.

Seeing the pictures of MM arriving in Barcelona yesterday, i struggle to see how he can be racing anytime soon. Another crash could disable him permanently i would have thought.

No doubt he will wish to do otherwise but he might need protecting from his own enthusiasm here.

depends on the severity of the break if it's clean then a plate and screws would probably be strong enough for him to ride maybe even as soon as the weekend but the pain and risk of further damage I would imagine will be the limiting factor

How complex is the fracture?

Any crash could disable or even be fatal. You only need one bad one and it might not even be your fault. You could go down on oil or get involved in someone else's accident.

Racer don't need protecting from themselves imo. If they are they are no longer racers. Senna said it better than I ever could.

from bt sport " Marc Márquez underwent successful surgery in Barcelona this morning.

Initial reports suggest there was no damage to the radial nerve, and he will be aiming to race on August 9th in Brno"

another reason he may have crashed is because of the new rear tyre introduced this year which offers more grip but the Honda and Ducati riders were saying that that caused the bike to push the front more .

There is a brilliant article in PSPB mag this month about the benefits and negatives of V4 versus inline 4s in Motogp. Never quite appreciated why the V4 is the engine of choice for most riders.

It reckons Rossi has been trying to convince Yamaha to build a V4 ever since he returned from Ducati.
