Marquez

Marquez is definitely the GOAT imo.

The eight ball has been potted.

Eight world titles at 26 years old and he just gets better and better with experience. There doesnt seem to be chink in his armour. His pace has always been impressive but his race craft, calm head and ability to safe the front at will make him almost unbeatable.

And best of all you can see he just enjoys racing bikes and is having fun 8)

How did he not break any bones?

All the crash data comes from the airbag suit , I guess they must work pretty well if you can walk away from a 26G impact and ride again the same afternoon and then win a race 2 days later .

Very impressive kit. I want one just not sure I want to pay how much they cost (blush)

I would say if you can afford one then get one , regardless of the price it will always be cheaper than a broken pelvis or a broken back .

In a 30mph collision with a fixed object, a person of average weight (@160lbs....clearly not anyone near where I live) experiences about 30G at the moment of impact. But in a car they're restrained, so the compression force acts only on the seatbelts...well, and the car's crush-zones, or whatever they're called, effectively slowing down the impact, albeit very quickly.
I'll bet Marquez' suit reading was relative to something stationery, as opposed to something that was moving.

To put a perspective on it, his bike clearly didn't cope with that 26g particularly well, did it.?

He's a very smart lad, as well as gifted, so I wonder what age he'll decide it's no longer worthwhile forever pushing the envelope.??

Not until he gets seriously hurt I suspect as he is clearly having too much fun racing motorcycles for a living.

Look at the other riders who are serious and focused and little stressed. Marc is focused but you can clearly see his excitement and joy about what he does.

Barring an injury, I reckon it'll be achievements that end his career rather than anything else.

He's only won 8 world championships. I reckon he wants top spot which is 15 I think. He'll certainly want to beat Rossi. Plus there's the most wins in the top class races to go for as well. I need to google that. I know he beat Hailwood's record recently so that puts him 4th.

I think he is about 40 race wins short of Ago. He could do that in 4 years easy.

79 to Marquez and 122 to Ago. Rossi on 115.

Well, if he gets to 115 - and presumably surpasses that figure, at that point wouldn't you keep going for another seven or eight wins?? You'd think he'd at least take a stab at it...I mean, why not?

I would go for 16 titles and beat Agos all time record which I believe is 15 titles.

However imo he would beat it massively as Ago had a huge advantage in collecting world titles in that when Ago took his titles you could race in multiple championships in one year, so could be world title in more than one class in any one year.

If Marquez was racing in moto2 and Motogp he would be very close to 15 titles now.

Ago did most of his when there were only about 6 rounds a year , its much easier to get to big numbers when there a 16 - 18 rounds a year .
