Ducati running a mysterious black box next to the rear exhaust in first tests in Sepang.
No one seems to know what its for.

Could it perhaps contain some sort of gyroscopic / momentum sensor, feeding information back to the traction control system.?

There seems to be an inner ring in the exhaust end and in one pic it looks segmented. Also the top pic you can clearly see a actuator with two control cables that appears to be attached to the exhaust.
Will be interesting to see how it works if it is.

I don't think it's actually designed to do what it says in that article , I think its more likely to be something akin to the exup on the R1, but I'm not an engineer so I could be completely wrong .

I was dubious reading it that you would get that much reaction force from a exhaust to make a noticeable difference, but guess the proof is in the pudding!
