I can't decide if he's making it more boring or more interesting. On one hand the championship is all about second place but on the other everyman and his dog it upping their game and there's some great racing.
But to answer the question, I have a feeling he's going to bag the lot.
Agostini did it in 1968 in 2 classes, 350 and 500cc , he never lost any world championship race he entered in either 350cc or 500cc for 3 seasons 68,69 and 70 which included 6 TT wins too, the season was much shorter then but he still won something like 37 premier class races on the trot
To answer the original question - yes, but with a But. I don't think a clean sweep would be good for the sport.
Personal feelings aside he's a talented young guy, he's the right nationality and age to succeed in MotoGP and he's got a good team around him, there's every chance he will make the clean sweep. However Schumacher did exactly this in F1 with Totd, Braun etc at Ferrari around him and the TV watchers got bored - myself included, there was just no contest other than who would come second, I don't want the same thing to happen to MotoGP.
Not sure the swap to F1 or even F2 is viable any more, the guys driving in those classes were racing karts at 8yrs old and winning, and have come up through the ranks gaining the "feel", exactly what Marqeuz has done on 2 wheels. I'm not sure Surtees record can be broken with current racing machinery.
The problem with F1 is the lack of racing and its processional format. Shuey dominated and no one came close. You had to rely on an accident or a poor pit stop.
You're not getting that in MotoGP. He's racing and being challenged. You saw yesterday it's a fight to the front. I can't think of a dull race this season, everyone near the front wants a go at him. Marquez has worked for each win.
I reckon a clean sweep would be good for MotoGP, people will want to watch this guy racing. The sport increased in popularity when Rossi started to dominate.
when some of the other youngsters (Maverick, Marquez Jr)make it up to the premier class and onto decent machinery (Redding, Ianone) I dont think he will have it all his own way
Finally got to watch round 10 last night so I could open this thread at last!!
Hope he wins all 18. He's a talent and a humble bloke that likes a good race. He smiles at the interviews like a kid at Christmas. He obviously lives what he's doing. As much as I supported stoner, he'd lost that, it was to much of a business for him.

I know Casey didn't enjoy his racing in the premier class like Marquez does, but his family uprooted from Aus to the UK and basically lived in a motor home for years in cold, wet Britain, I would imagine your parents making sacrifices like that would change anyone's views on something. To repay that both morally and financially is a fair debt on the shoulders of a twenty something lad, I wasn't a fan, but I can understand why he was like he was.
I'm not sure Marquez has had to deal with any of those issues, Spain has a very good racing system for bringing talented young riders through the ranks without ever leaving the country, Alberto Puig has steered Marc's career from way back, he's definitely had an easier life than Casey did at the same age, maybe that's why he seems happier than Casey did, fingers crossed he's still smiling when he's 26 - the age Casey became disillusioned with the sport.
No idea what happened there - god knows I don't want to go through puberty again!
