V6 Laverda

Post by duke63 »

I was reading about this last night. What a noise. Has anyone else ever built a V6 bike?

Sounds immense. Wasn't that Boss Hoss cruiser dooberry-ferkin a few years back a V6 too?

I agree DB, I see one occasionally with the most disgusting paint scheme. In fact last time I saw it was at the Manchester bike show

Can't watch the YT clip, but I'm guessing it was a Guzzi?

I know it's not really a bike thing, but a friend back in my teen years had a 45 single given away by a Motorsport magazine back in the 50's or 60's, it had the V16 BRM at full chat going round Goodwood circuit, tbh next to a RR Merlin it's one of the sexiest engine sounds I've ever heard. (inlove)

I guess a small V6 might work? I'd love to see a manufacturer doing something unusual again, but is guess it wouldn't make any money :(

Honda have missed a big trick by not producing a V4 600 sportsbike, IMHO.

I know it wouldn't be cheap but I am sure it would still sell well.

Yeah, a V4 600 race homologation special would be nice. I hope at least one of the Big Four give something unusual a go over the coming seasons. Such bikes were prevalent in the 90's but they all seem interested in producing lookalikee unit shifters now. Sign of the times I guess.

A company in Germany called Horex are supposed to be making a V6 road bike. The angle between the cylinders is very shallow about15degrees but it is technically speaking a V6.

Wonder if they get help from VW. From what I can remember thy used to sell their 6 cyl engines as an "in line V6" due t the small engine, Also they made the W12 iirc.
