Helmet doing its job

Not quite sure what part of the bike has lodged itself in the helmet but he's a very lucky guy. Wonder if the airvent contributed to it piercing the shell?

Happened on a french trackday and it appears he went headfirst into the bike as he came off. Here is the translation.

I'm writing this post following a fall yesterday on circuit in training. I'd consider helmet that you put on your head, security has no price. As you can see on the photos I can thank shark hadn't saved me the worst in silencing the frontal impact that I had with the bike. It's a piece of the loop back who is planted in the helmet. The bike to typed into the wall and came back into my trajectory I typed launched head first into the bike. I think I'm doing "only" with a head trauma and a few stitches to the head, the back all blocked and tablet and can be a fractured a vertebra to confirm. As I was saying the security doesn't have a price we must not play with it. I would like to thank once again shark for the protection, QUENTIN WHO MY ACCOMPANIED 6 H to the hospital because it's good in those moments here and the people who took my news!

Well I'm sure his head would be in worse shape without a helmet mate

It looked like a pretty decent helmet and even if he'd spent double on a more expensive model I don't reckon it'd have faired much better, looks like quite a localised piercing impact.

I just thought helmets had to pass an impact test but maybe the force in the incident was much greater than any yest.

It looks like it's a SHARK RACE-R PRO CARBON which in Aussie at least is a pretty expensive helmet, so he definitely wasn't scrimping on his safety.

Gets a 5 star SHARP rating as well, where the minimum req'd is 1 star.

I'd say it was a pretty extremely fluke of an accident to pierce it like that.

Blinking hell he was lucky. I did think the same as well whether it really did do its job but i guess if at speed and physically being hit then maybe it really did do a brilliant job. Wow that is incredible to be honest
