Squillions spent on developing a chassis, thousands of man hours cost in engine development and mapping and half a battalion of suspension specialists involved in set-up and it all comes down to a muppet making a tyre with a Gauloises hanging out of his trap. Bit sh*t really isn't it?

Tbh I have my doubts over how much value Bridgestone and Michelin get from motogp.

Most riders I know prefer and use Pirelli, Metzler or Dunlop on road and track.

Fwiw I preferred Metz / Pirelli far more than anything Michelin had to offer, I found one Dunlop I liked but only for cold conditions. The way I understood it to work was that you filter down the tyre tech learned in MotoGP so you actually have race tyres that work for the club racer or fast trackdayer, if you don't you're wasting your time, money and effort being in MotoGP as you can't sell off the back of it.

Michelin used to do half decent race tyres, but as Blade says most riders have moved to other manufacturers now.

And once riders have moved and found something they like and have confidence in it can be very difficult to motivate them to change.

Pirelli, Metzler and Dunlop have great marketing from wsbk, bsb and the road racing scene.

One of the joys of using a good tyre shop is taking advice from them. I've been happy to try out a few tyres on the SX

It's easier for me as I do big miles, so even if the tyres are crap, I know I've not got them on for long.
