The gold wheels work well with the gold forks
The black wheels look better on the one with the 'not so gold forks'

I may have a set of Pirelli Supercorsas for sale dependent on what condition they are in once i receive them.

New wheels turned up today.

Much lighter than the original wheels. A very unscientific calculation involving weighing myself and then myself holding the wheel tells me the new rear wheel is approx 2.5kg lighter than the original and that's with a 190 tyre fitted. The tyres are not Supercorsas though, just Pirelli Dragons so if anyone wants a free pair for collection.

The wheels really need powdercoating before i use them. They have been repainted but its peeling in places. I'm sure i saw the place is Tipton does this too.

Duke, if not there is a very good powdercoaters I have used near spaghetti junction who I can recommend. If you prep the wheels first it's cheaper too as you'd need to take the bearings etc out.

Come to think of it it may be worth getting new bearings anyways....

I don't know where you brought them from mate. But if they need a re-paint perhaps it would be wise to have them checked for any run out before you get that work done.?

Don't know why but this has only just appeared when I hit new posts yet its days since I read it with plenty of updates. Is that just me or a fault on the new site

Anyway all that apart nice one Duke it will look amazing. Old wheels weigh a ton. Modern cast wheels are much lighter these days but old stuff like on our bikes was so over engineered. When I fitted dymags to the sp the weight saving was massive and they transformed the handling. I was really sceptical if I would be able to tell the difference but it was like night and day.

Oh just remebered a good tip. Look at the weight of the tyres you fit. There can be up to a kilogram in difference which obviously cancels out a large proportion of the advantage created by fitting lighter wheels in the first place.

Plus the weight of a tyre is obviously at the circumference of the wheel so a kilo here has a bigger effect of the gyroscopic effect than a kilo at the hub.

As a rule of thumb most pirellis are quite light and Dunlop's heavy.
