As the others said, shame you didn't get the track time you where hoping for. But at least you got out on the bike and the suspension issue was found in the pits and not a gravel trap.

Big thumbs up to the guy you bought the bike from. Sounds like a top bloke to help out like that.

Well it was a good day as you shook down the bike and didn't end up on your arse. Sounds like good honest people and once you've sorted the bike it'll be brill.

Glad you ok and one for experience that's for sure.

Cheers guys, and yeah fully agree, better to find out off the track. The suspension tech reckons if the bearings had completely collapsed on me it would have been "very untidy". And as some of you know a bearing collapse has already had me there.

Also agree Jon, Paul went well beyond what was expected, I'm sure any other seller would have been of the "as is where is" opinion and wouldn't have had the position to get me a discount track day, so very appreciative of his response.

As I said, I rattled out the cobwebs, scrubbed the tyres, freaked myself out by the insane velocity of the beast and the ease at which it lifts the front, marveled at the benefit of sticky tyres and survived the re-visit to the track. And in the end I was barely out of pocket. So I'm pretty happy with that and will be in a better space next track day.

I'd class it as a good day. Not the one you wanted, but given everything that could've gone wrong, I'd day someone was looking out for you that day!

Not the best of days, KK but at least it was a decent result to the day.

Might be worth having the bike looked over in full by a quality mechanic to make sure there are no other issues. Someone at sometime has not repaired it as they should.

Sorry to hear the day didn't go to plan KK but there were a lot of positives all the same. All ended well, your OK and the bike has had a hood shake down so definitely far from a wash out.

Agree with Duke I would get the bike checked over if for no other reason than to give you confidence all is well. Imagine doing 260 kmph and something letting go, it doesn't bear thinking about.

He threw a heavier rear spring at my D6 and transformed the handling. Man, that was years ago now!!

Crap. Well I'd echo StM's comments about it being potentially a lot worse, could have got very nasty indeed - but it didn't, and only because you'd booked a suspension guy; most people would ride the bike for a day or two and see whether there were any issues before booking suspension set up. Fortunate doesn't cover it imho.

On the plus side, you're back on track, you've laid the demon to rest about that corner and it's left you wanting more, so it's done most of what you wanted out of the day in the one session, the only problem is you've now got to go through the bike with a fine tooth comb to make sure this so called mechanic hasn't made any more errors. Good luck and fingers crossed its a one-off incident. (y)

Wow, what mixed bag....but the key here is the bike fault was picked up, we all know that could have been a monster fail. The Angels were looking out for you for sure.

To get the honourable service from all the guys was a bonus. Next time out will be awesome for sure. 8) (sun)
