Most people probably aren't aware as its not been mentioned yet but the weekend we are thinking of going to the IOM in 2015 includes the last day (Friday 4th Sept) of the Classic TT / IOM festival of motorcycles.

I think this is a great time to go and an added bonus to the trip as we will hopefully see the classic senior race on Friday and have the Saturday and Sunday to hoon around the island. For information the ferry is 16:15 from Douglas to Liverpool on the Sunday so plenty of riding time (and caking eating) will be available over the weekend.

Personally I'm thinking of heading over on the Thursday and know this is something Bratty has wanted to do in the past so not sure if Bratty or others would want to do similar on this trip, just a suggestion.

On the basis that it is Classic TT finale perhaps we should consider booking ferries and accommodation now as I can guarantee from experience it will sell out if we leave much longer and I'm genuinely not kidding around it will and does sell out quickly unfortunately.

The ferry is £118 which is what would need to be laid out now, the accommodation will probably be possible to secure on a credit card with no cash up front. I know its not ideal shelling out £118 nearly a year in advance but It would be a mega awesome trip to catch some racing as well as doing some riding so perhaps a good investment in the future IMO.

What do other people think ?

I've no problem going on the Thursday but I'll want to catch an earlier ferry back otherwise it's going to be a very long day for those of us who have to do decent miles back home. Especially with work the next day.

I almost paid for my ferry last week so it's a good job I didn't (tmi)

Just had a look and the ferry back is now 4.30 in the afternoon. There isn't an earlier crossing unless you take the Heysham ferry at 8.45am.

With a 2 hour 45 minutes crossing that'll be way after 7pm by the time we've got off the ferry and fuelled up so I'll book the Monday off

I think we need to make some enquiries as to how this will effect which roads are open and the cost of the hotels too.

Roads close from 9.30am to 5.00pm according to this years schedule.

http://www.iomtt.com/~/media/Files/2014 ... 202014.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That would be the Thursday and the Friday.

Edit: Sorry roads closed on the Friday only and possibly the Saturday if the weather has been bad in the week.
