Like Godzilla, I have never found another helmet that fits me better than a Shoei and I currently own a GT Air.. Internal sun visors are so much better for road use.

I love my chaser, but bought a GTAir recently, ideal for road riding, very light, the internal visor is a great addition.

That emergency release system is a great idea, Arai use the same idea on their RX-7, not sure why the big manufacturers haven't rolled this out across their ranges.

There's a shop near Nuneaton that stock the Nexx helmets (think you can order from their website too) I went and tried them on. Theey do look great, but I wasn't sure about the finish here and there. Might just be something to do with carbon fibre lids (not looked at one before).

I'm an Arai man (head shape is Arai, rather than Shoei), but I'd recommend those two.

Personally, I've got a Quantum ST and it's ace.

I've also got a HJC RPHA-10 (bought brand new when they were still expensive) and it's the worst lid I've ever ridden in.

I'm still a massive fan of the Roof lids, but I need a drop down sun visor for commuting as I ride into the sun both ways.

Same for me. It's not so bad now its longer days, but when the sun is low it's a real pain. The only consolation is that people pulling out from side roads have the sun behind them when looking at you rather than in their eyes.

OK I'll through my lid into the ring...see what I did there

Having tried numerous lids over the years it is as everyone says down to personal choice and perception I'd say.

I love Arai yet don't get on with Shoei. Suberth weren't that quiet nor Shark. Yet my HJC RPHA-10plus is an awesome lid for me.

Do as you're doing buddy and try loads of different ones on and make sure they insert the correct padding sizes into the right size lid for you. A lesson I've learnt the hard way.

I'm not sure I'm ready to sell my other HJC lid yet....yes I've two before you say anything Monty.

I have used shoei and agv both fit me well,I spoke to a bike paramedic and he said most people buy lids that are to big and he gets to view the aftermath. My advice is whatever you go for try lots on and get a good sales assistant to help you.I was surprised how tight a fit I needed but went with what the paramedic advised

I agree, but I wonder how many of out emergency service personnel are trained and know about it.

A fact I discovered when buying the lid, as I too was an Arai man, as they fitted my head well, anyway the fact I discovered was that Shoei and Arai are trying to get each others market share (obviously) however as its well known people use the term Arai head or Shoei head. So both companies redesigned certain models to be more like the other, GT Air being Shoei offer and I think the Axces offering from Arai which is more like the Shoei.

Hence why the GT air surprised me when I tried it on, it was very similar, with the drop down visor, which can be put into any position, not just up or down, great for changing light levels.

That's the helmet I have got and there should be some room for discount.

I bought mine last year when they litterally had just come out and Shoei was telling dealers not to discount. The RRP was £480 but I paid £380 through an official Shoei UK dealer (can't rememeber which one but they were some where Newcastle way I think) even then so you should be able to at least match that.

I got the black and red one and the paint work and graphics are very high quality.
