Should the Nurburgring split cars and bikes?

Probably a good idea IMO. I wouldn't want cars on a uk track day with me so same theory would apply at the Nurburgring.

It's a hard one. The ring is massive and it is a public road (I think). It's always had cars and bikes running together without too many issues. I can understand both arguments but it's one of the few places where you can put a bike against a car and race them for real.

I've had the chance to go more than once, but it's one place I don't want to ride. The tarmac is in worse condition than most UK roads and it's full of twats who want a 9 min lap at any cost... I don't want to be part of that cost..

I would much prefer the IOM any day.

Its a public road but UK insurance cover wont be valid whilst you are riding it and if you hit a barrier or spill oil, its all repaired at your cost.

I have no desire to ride it and as D6Nutz points out, many are chasing times on there.

I don't care if it's a public road or a track it's the lack of run off and the Armco barriers that put me off.

We went to ride the circuit when over there touring a few years back, but 2up didn't seem the most sensible idea.

Didn't the previous owners go bust ?

I probably would give it a go but thats coz Im young and stupid, and tbh I would be more likely to if they ran Cars and Bikes separate, dont like the idea of being cut up by a load of 911s while I wobble my way round

That's always been my understanding also.

Personally I would like to ride or drive it at some point as it's a hugely challenging and famous ribbon of tarmac. D6nutz comments on the quality of the asphalt is worrying and off putting tbh but all other issues don't concern me too much. Yes there is little run of but the same is true in Wales riding between dry stone walls sometimes with sheep on the wrong side of the wall. Yes there are nobs chasing a lap time but this goes on on UK tracks and tbh there is stupid and dangerous drivers all over uk roads but that doesn't stop me venturing out on them. One good thing is I believe you are supposed to over take on the left which is a good idea as keeps surprises rare and avoids the shock of some spoon diving up the inside of you at the apex on a track day. Not risk free I agree but motorcycling never is.

Oh I know. I managed to steal a couple of hours out in the jag yesterday without wifey Bank holiday in France and no-one on the roads . What a machine!

Why pay to go on the ring when you have the lovely B500 road, which goes through the Black Forrest for free.
