Ducati Multistrada V4

Ducati have drip fed deatils of the new bike over the last few weeks. Its full release date is 4 November.

To date they have said 170bhp, 125nm torque. V4 engine is lighter than the 1260 V2.

Bike will almost certainly have a 19 inch front wheel and no single side swingarm.

Biggest surprise yesterday is that it will no longer have desmo valvetrain but use springs. Reason? the valve check is not due until 60,000km.

This is the most recent photo to have bene leaked.

I'm guessing that'll be around the £20k mark.

Motorbikes seem to have gone back to being expensive toys again.

I'm surprised desmo isn't better than springs for a valve check. A lot of money for a bike.

Monthly payments have meant car and bike manufacturers have increased costs gradually.

£1k more than the current bike according to rumours.

Its going to be way outside my price range.

Isn't there a range of models for the current bike? I do wonder why Ducati offer so many variations of the same bike. They can't be selling that many

4 in the current range at 1260cc and 2 in the 950 range.

Difference now is that this bike will be offered as a bike to which you add various packages - sport/touring or whatever you want and they are fitted at the factory before delivery. Its going the way of German cars in that you buy it new specc'd as you want.

That makes more sense to me. Get a base model and add on stuff.

Looks like there's 6 versions of the 1260. https://ducatiworcester.co.uk/category/multistrada" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

£14,500 for the base model. £19k for grand tour version.

The base 1260 now costs nearly as much as my 1200S did in 2016.

I like the idea of the bike but my current Multi already is a bit of a lump. It’s great stretching it a legs, but I’d worry the V4 would be a real handful at low speeds.

Desmo is definitely better, but I think going back to springs is due to cost savings, whilst still achieving a length valve clearance service check interval. Effectively a win win.

My guess is the V4 will be lighter bike than the 1260Dvt.

It’s why they have ditched the single side swingarm.

According to Ducati The V4 engine is a complete reworking of the Panigale engine. Designed for its purpose of touring and not for racing and top speeds.

170bhp is still a shit load of power though.

Figures on a piece of paper don't mean a lot.

That said on one of my reasons for changing my Multi was there was too much power that could be used too easily and you didn't even realise the speed you were going...as i found out to my cost.

The new one will be a better bike in every way but i think i have ticked that particular box now.

Announced yesterday.

https://www.ducati.com/gb/en/bikes/mult ... 4?tab=Spec" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

three models - V4, V4S and V4S Sport starting at £15,495 :?

Lots of tech wizadry including radar controlled adaptive cruise control and blond spot detection if you want it. 19 inch front wheel and 17 inch rear in 170 width and double side swingarm. Seems they have changed the focus of the bike quite a lot to be more off road capable.

If it's got blonde detection then I'm in.
