It's got some good feature. That blind spot detection could be a life saver.

A 20% increase in fuel consumption is a big leap. 160 mile range isn't a lot for a big tourer.

I think people are after more tech. Even the dinosaurs on the Versys forum who still go on about ABS are pissed off that the Versys doesn't have cruise control.

For me it brings back memorys of my 2013 Multi and all it's electrical gremlins, it was a great bike to ride once it was all fixed though, on it's last day with me I took it out and just thrashed it... I almost didn't get the MT-10.

The new Multistradas all come with a 4 year warranty so Ducati are confidant with their product.

I think you are right.

Cruise control on my Mutli was brilliant. I never thought i needed it until i had it. Its also useful to stay within the speed limits. getting caught speeding on mainland Europe after 1 January could possibly lead to having your licence removed on the spot, i reckon. Some Countries already do it - Switzerland being one.

That said, most of these things you would only ever use when on a big trip. I will probably test ride one and then want one.

Valve clearances are now 36,000 miles and there are no belts on the V4 so should be cheaper to run.

I know the 15,000 miles service for my Multi would have been circa £1k which was another consideration when deciding whether to change it or not.

On the plus side I've gone from worrying about getting a service every few months to being ashamed about how low my mileage is between annual services.

I'm only doing about 100 miles per week in the car these days.

PCP on this one comes to an end next summer so i'm trying to put enough cash away to buy it outright. I can't justify ( nor do i particularly want to) buying another new one. At some point in the next 5-10 years, the value of petrol and diesel cars will fall through the floor.

I do about 300 miles a year.. all of them on the track.

We bought our new car last year and it will be our last petrol car purchase I suspect.

No point buying a new one now imo as residuals will plummet unless it's a rare one.

The review I've read is glowing. He can't find fault with it apart from the increased fuel consumption. The reviewer is impressed with the level of thought gone into the design, like little wings to move engine heat away from the rider. It's been designed to make it easier to use off road than previous models but not at the expense of touring and road riding.

Is there a mod for the UK market to redirect the wings for aiming engine heat at the rider?

When the V4 was announced a short while ago, I thought that perhaps I should have waited before buying my BMW R1250RS a couple of months ago. Then I learned of the V4 fuel consumption figures, and thought about how high the seat is on Multis, I am now happy that I made the correct choice even if it did cost a little more.

I don't know how tall you are Bob but the test rider in the article is 5 foot 7. He put the seat on the lowest setting and was able to get both feet flat on the floor
