New Jacket Suggestion

Post by Blade »

Finding some of my riding on the s3 is now more causal and about the destination more than just the journey.

Duke has sorted me some jeans but looking for a recommendation on a good summer jacket to go with the jeans.

Ideally something light, possibly shower proof with decent protection.

Haven't set a budget but don't want to go mental although happy to spend a fair amount for good kit if its good value.

Suggestions welcome (lol)

I wear my Klim jacket all the time now.

They do summer jackets. You can usually get deals on last year's stock.

The only comfortable jacket on a really warm day is a mesh one. From my experience jackets that claim they flow air when there is a waterproof liner behind do not work. Better off with a mesh jacket and carry a waterproof over jacket. Everything is a compromise somewhere.

Dainese, Alpinestars and the usual companies make some decent ones.

I had a Dainese one delivered today as it was the last of old stock and a decent price at sportsbike shop.

Have a look at Rev It jackets too as they make some excellent mesh jackets.

Cheers chaps will do some searching on mesh jackets. Little concerned about their tear resistance but maybe thats something I need to look into more.

The mesh sections are usually only on the parts of the jacket unlikely to hit the ground in an accident. But it’s a compromise. It does however make riding in hot weather comfortable.

Not at the moment. I have some long Alpinestars gloves that have mesh sections inside the fingers.

I’ve just bought one of these, waterproof not too heavy, shoulder , elbow and back protection. Vented on the arms and huge vents under the arms as well as out of the back. I’ve worn mine about 4 or 5 times now, brilliant bit of kit.

I've seen knobheads riding around in shorts and t shirt this weekend.

When they end up in A&E eventually, hopefully the doctors will make them suffer.
