Out of interest what pressures do you tend to run Nutz ?

The Aprilia recommended pressures are 36 / 33, I guess that I tend to run around 34 / 31. The pressures are a bit fluid as I usually run them a bit softer when the roads are warmer and put them up a little when it's expected to be cold and wet.

Every bike I have ever owned the manufacturer's say 36/42 which is way to high IMO. Good to hear Aprilla take a more sensible approach.

I tend to run 34/38 if cold and 32/36 in warmer climes. After reading your post I think I will lower further and see if I prefer it. I must admit I tend to run 32/30 or 30/28 on track so going lower should help generate more grip which I occasionally struggle with on the road so lower pressures is a good shout.

When I had my Road Smarts fitted they told me they were 36/42 .. do reckon I should lower them fractionally ?

Yes I would Spudda. IMO those pressures are high to cover carrying pillions, commuting with cold tyres that never get very hot so not much pressure increase.

Try dropping them to 34/38 when going for a blast and see how you get on. If you don't like it nothing lost and 2 minutes to change back.

None of us are Marc Marquez but you don't have to be to notice a difference / improvement so don't feel you have to be a riding god as I'm certainly not just have a try I think you mat prefer it.

I totally agree but all the Honda manuals still list these values and last time I looked mostvtyre manufacturers were following suit, probably because their scared of a law suit.

What do Kawasaki recommend ?

Im sure my Kawasaki reccomends 26/42 in the manual and thats what Pirelli say for my tyres but I tend to run 34/36 when the suns out, I find it doesnt turn it quite as quick but I have much more confidence in the corner

I think they do that to make sure the tyre seats and seals correctly when fitted, as much as anything else.

BMW recommend 36/42, I asked a Metzeler tyre guy once and he told me the same. I never run them at that though.

Duke I'm pretty sure its not to seat the tyres. That would be done on first inflating the tyres and then dropping them to the required pressure.
