Nope, quite the opposite. It has to be serviced by an authorised BMW dealer and reasonably on-time or I risk the warranty and final value.

I may do a bit, but the gamble is that over the 3 years I won't still be in the same contact (which I can't be I can only do 2 years) then the contract after that, the mileage won't be as high and it will ask even out.

If not, I think the final value will be lower and my pocket has to make up the short fall..

Servicing every 15 weeks sounds expensive (whew)

Are BMW labour rates and parts reasonable?

I look at it this way..

No matter how you cut it 20k a year on a bike is going to cost on servicing. We all have choices, you've chosen to have multiple cars and bikes and your happy shell out to service, insure, and tax them. I chose a single vehicle that can do all duties and I choose to give BMW what it costs to keep it in tip top fettle.

Just asking if the service costs were reasonable.

BMW are not too bad on car servicing for the wifes car.

With your bike primarily being a work horse it makes sense and I guess you can budget all costs for 3 years.

Spent some time today giving her some TLC.

A proper wash and dry followed by a misting of ACF50. Gave the chain a good scrub and lube. Checked the condition of the tyres, they look crap considering they are supposed to be fairly new. I'm not going to change them now as they are working ok, but they are on the list.

Plus point. Mrs Nutz was out and about while I was cleaning the bike and happened to comment that the screen looked a bit tired and scratched (I also agree) this was read as a green light to buy a new screen, just not a BMW one at £220 (fubar)

Noticed some of the little touches today as well, like the positioning of the valves. The front is the same too, very easy to get to.ImageImage

I've never seen a valve in a spoke before, but it makes practical sense. It's easy to get to.

See, the problem is.... The bike is at least euro4 and has a fooking huge silencer in the collector. The factory end can is basically a straight through affair. The akra gives nothing extra, other than a big dent in your bank balance.

After a few rides, the end can isn't something I will bother changing. In dynamic it sounds pretty damn good, and it's not exactly quiet.

My local dealer is keen to get me on a R1250RS, but I might have to blag a ride on the XR too.

That's true. The s1000r I hired in Italy sound good crackling and popping and that was a standard end can.

I just thought you had mentioned a new end can and agree end cans are getting rather hard hitting on the wallet these days (fubar)

In road mode things are pretty quiet, but in dynamic the manual states the are certain "acoustic enhancements". These do include, but are not limited to (from my experience)

A pit lane limiter kind of burble at 3k
Quickshifter pops
Over run burble

But nothing beats the noise of the blipper

I like that idea a lot!

For gods sake don’t take a pillion for a ride and tell me it’s amazing two up because atm it seems that’s all the Multi has over this (and a large % of my riding will be two up again when I’m up to it) and you’re going to cause a dent in my bank balance!

I'm unlikely to ever the a pillion, but from what I've read it's supposed to be a very comfortable ride fur the pillion. You have rear preload adjustment for 2 up from the left switch gear. The blipper is also said to eliminate pillion headbutts on down shifts.

From riding Dukes mutley, personally, I don't think the BMW is quite a luxurious. But the BMW does handle and feel like nothing else in the category.

This thing is insane. Was running late for a running meet this morning so had to crack on and the bikes handling package is not that of a huge adventure bike.

Then the fun came on the way back. The electronics make you feel like a riding god. There was some dick in an Audi trying to race me, even though I was only pootling about. So as we hit the dual carriageway..... I may have done the naughty thing and pulled the pin. Hit 8k in second and third and the electronics let's the front lift well off the ground and then gently puts it back down..

Thought you’d flogged the SD to put that sort of temptation out of your way Nutz, glad to see that’s working out for you! (lol)
