That is tidy I have to say. Nice colour add the price is very appealing.

I'm going to try and get a test ride on the ktm GT tomorrow and I really want to get a decent ride on the BMW. As things stand the BMW is my favourite.

Same engine and arguably better road chassis than a GS for £4000-5000 less than a similar age / mileage GS and looks good.

I was going to take one for a test ride when I was looking at just having one bike. They seem to hold their value. It's certainly an all day bike that ticks a lot of boxes.

They seem to hold their value well even with decent mileage on them, which is a bonus in yours and Nutz's commuting role

I do like the look of that, but I'm thinking that something more upright is more suitable.

I've commuted a couple of times on the ktm recently and being more upright gives much better visibility.

Obviously your choice and opinion Nutz, but look at the seat to bar height, the BMW looks way more upright than the KTM imo.

You will love the torque of the 1250 engine.

Just say you are looking at various options.

TBH some dealers don't seem that bothered whether you are buying or not but it doesn't hurt to float a few porkies to get the test ride you want.

Just ask Cav. If they have demonstrators they want them ridden. Even if you don't buy you spread the word about there bikes so there happen for bikes to be used in my experience. Its normally a requirement of a franchised dealer to have a certain number of demonstrators on fleet so normally ask and you will receive

So a late update as camping, no internet, and cider got in the way.

Friday saw a half day and an opportunity that just couldn't be missed, warm sunny weather, a half day, a KTM dealer just down the road. Why not take the GT out for a spin. As I can't afford the new model with the led headlights I managed to blag a ride on a slightly older used bike.

Now I love my 990 and I love what makes it a KTM, so I really wanted to love this bike too. I had an hour to play and a route in mind taking in towns and villages, really bumpy technical country lanes, and the dullness of the A34 (I spend most of my bike time there)

The first thing you notice getting on the bike is it feels like a KTM, well built, solid, and purposeful. Then you start it!

Off out into the lanes and it's a breeze to ride, suspension in the mid setting and power at full it easily blasts the route I'd plotted into a blur of v-twin burbling. The throttle response is undeniably KTM, off or stolen. Drop the power mode down a notch in town and it's easy to manage and feels surprisingly light.

All too soon the fun on the lanes ended and the A34 test started, and that is where the love was lost. The cruise control is on the throttle side (something the newer bike fixes) and it's impossible to use smoothly, the mirrors vibrate so much you can't see behind you, and the worst offender for me, the gearing. I was constantly up and down the box and as this will be the bikes day to day bread and butter ride it just won't suit me. It's a real shame, but it's a no.
