Why don't you ring GPR and explain you have their exhaust and can send photos to prove it if required.

Explain you bought the bike second hand and the exhaust sticker had peeled off.

I would have thought they would be glad to supply a sticker to promote their product.

The decal might not be advertised for sale but I'm sure it will be available most likely FOC if you explain the situation.

Is there a part number on the exhaust?

Most GPR cans seem to come with a riveted badge rather than a sticker.

I spoke with 3DMoto who deal with MVs. They can check the ECU map and update it. They reckon the bios might need it as well.

It'll cost between £20 to £40 depending on how long it takes.

They're really busy at the moment so they can't book me in for a few weeks. However they said I can call on a Friday to see if they've got a slot the next day.

So I managed another ride on the bike today.

First off I noticed that the fuel gauge was saying that the bike needed fuel, which I knew was wrong. The battery was disconnected when the tracker was fitted so I put it down to that. A few miles into the ride and the gauge was showing I had enough juice to stay out for a bit.

The bike started first time. Someone on the MV forum suggested hitting the starter button and then pulling in the clutch rather than clutch in and starter. I'm happy to do that if it means the sprag is under less stress. It worked for me. I've started the bike 3 times today and each time it started. So either the reason for the problem when I first had it was a low battery or the fuel was stale.

Sadly the roads are still cold and covered in shit. I had a front wheel slide on a sharp left hander. It should have shit me up but it was all very controlled with me just heading slightly on the wrong side of the road.

On the power the front gladly rises in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. I might invest in a damper. I've not had anything wobble but the bike is light and with the decent delivery of power it's probably better to play safe.

Handling on this is a real joy. Despite the conditions the bike is solid on whichever line you've chosen and leaves you wondering why you're not going much faster.

And that engine. I'm in love. I've always loved triples and this constantly reminds me why; the combination of grunt and free revving allows you to make it howl or leave in your favourite gear. Talking of triples, seeing 3 figures when you're still in 2nd is something I've not seen for a while 8)

Hearing the Triumph's howl in Moto2 had given an added dimension to the racing.

Great little write up and glad you enjoyed it.

FWIW, the ZX6R does 99 on the limiter in 2nd :) I'm surprised the 1299 doesn't do it in 1st.. the big bang R1 would do nearly 110 in 1st

Not sure where that Big Bang R1 figure is from Cav but no way its hitting 110mph in 1st with stock gearing. The reality is a genuine 88.6mph

Maybe it can hit 110 in 1st in the pub (giggle)

If only it was that Quick Cav (wasntme)

The1299 is a lazy 71 mph in first and doesn't pass the ton until well into 3rd gear.
