208bhp in a naked. 184kg wet.
I see MV have got a new colour TFT. Hopefully that will make it on to the new models. The current screen looks very dated.

Re: Talking of silly over powered bikes..
I'm not being funny but why the hell do you want (not need, want) more power than a Superduke1290R?
A naked is fun between 50-130mph, I wouldn't want to go any quicker than that. And you won't be able to use 208bhp at 50mph because you'll fall off the back or loop the bike
I struggle to understand this bike. I get 230bhp superbikes, I don't get 190+bhp supernakeds.

Don't be so facetious.D41 wrote:So 230 bhp is OK, 190 bhp is not OK.....is this correct??
230+bhp Superbike - fair enough. It has the fairing to make it usable at the speeds associated with the bhp. Also, it's meant for track which is where you can use that amount of power
190+bhp Supernaked - very unnecessary and extremely unlikely to use all of the power. Not designed for track and rarely going to be taken there. A mate of mine who can get 100% out of his GSXR1000 with 184bhp has a 1290 Superduke R and says he simply can't get the most out of it - it's too much. Why add nearly 20bhp to that?!

Re: Talking of silly over powered bikes..
It has less torque than the KTM SuperDuke so on the road the KTM should pull away until the MV gets up into the higher revs.
Looks nice but the price will be eye watering.
Even my superduke gt can't use all of its power without upsetting the traction control, it just wants to wheelie even in 4th, and 5th if it hits a bump.

Re: Talking of silly over powered bikes..
You can use nakeds on the track. Most of them are unfaired sports bikes. The MV has side pods to make it more stable, you just need to make sure you've got the strength to hold on. I reckon it'll need a short screen though.
You say your mate can ride a bike but can't get everything out of his Superduke. So why has he got the KTM? Probably because he enjoys riding it, and surely that's what it's all about?
For the record, I do think bikes have become overpowered. It's getting a bit silly now. Times have changed and the big bikes aren't as threatening as they used to be. Riders are protected by a wide range of electronic aids and gizmos.
If someone wants to buy a 200bhp supersports, whack the TC and other aids up to full and wobble around in novices then it's up to them. So long as they're having fn.

Re: Talking of silly over powered bikes..
Manufacturers do seem to be competing for bhp bragging rights these days it seems.
Here's some performance figures for 2 bikes I rode back to back last week.
1299 Panigale
Daytona 675

Re: Talking of silly over powered bikes..
I think the Panigale has a typo error at 0-120 mph so just ignore that.
0-60 and to a certain degree 0-100 will be close despite the 90bhp difference in power outputs as traction and gearing will have more of an effect in the first part of any acceleration.
But look at the 0-150 on the Panigale it's got to 150 mph from a standstill 6 seconds quicker than the Daytona gets to 140mph and boy can you feel the difference. It may read as just a little number here, but on the road the difference in acceleration is very stark. Scary stark tbh
Riding both last week in damp and cold conditions I would have to honestly say the 1299 was too much, way too much. To be honest it's not as noticeable until you ride the 675 back to back (which is still plenty quick) that you realise where you can enjoy the 675 on a ride out, with the 1299 your constantly holding it back knowing even with all the electronic safety aids its too much for the conditions.
Perfect road bike for me would be something like a Daytona 765RS (please make one Triumph) still too much if we are honest, but useable more of the time "too much" if that makes any sense.
I'm still glad we have the option and choice to buy a 230bhp road going motorcycle but that's all it is a choice not a requirement. If you want it buy it. If your name isn't Marquez or similar it will be too much but so what!!!!! excess is a good choice and if that's your bag long my it continue
Ride what you want. Were all bikers just the same

There's tons of sportbikes out there that come in less powerful naked versions. Tons.

Re: Talking of silly over powered bikes..
Just for comparison:
The zx9r does 0-60 in 3.1s and a standing 1/4 mile in 10.3
zx12r is 3.0s and 9.9
Straight line speed stagnated a while ago. It's all about stopping quicker and being able to go round corners. Those two barges I've mentioned weigh a tonne and aren't the sharpest tools when it comes to the bends, plus the suspension and brake set up is very basic.
PS. The z1000 is one of the quickest off the mark with a 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds, which is 0.1s quicker than the H2.

I remeber now the zx9r had a rapid ss1/4.
Guess we've always had too much then

Re: Talking of silly over powered bikes..
There was one for sale on the PB Forum. It was almost new in appearance and had had a lot of time and money spent on it. I was very tempted to buy it. They're stonking bikes.
It's a 2003 model, currently has 29900 miles on the clock (less than 2000 miles a year).
It's got Carbon Dymag wheels in perfect condition, Continental race attack tyres, front has done about 2000 miles, rear about 300 miles.
It's got Brembo supersport front discs(about £600 new), Accossato 19/20.radial master cylinder, Accossato clutch perch, Accossato quick action throttle , Harris rearsets, Ohlins shock with remote preload.
I had the forks serviced last summer(about 1000 miles ago) and had K-tech springs and seals fitted.
It's got a double bubble screen, TWM quick release fuel cap, talon sprockets (1 tooth smaller front, 2 teeth bigger rear), R&G crash protectors, R&G bar ends, R&G tank grips and a colour matched seat hump and SBS race sinter front pads.
It's got titanium Akrapovic headers mated to a titanium Ladybird silencer and has an aluminium Ladybird exhaust hanger.

Re: Talking of silly over powered bikes..
I think the 1299 feels so brutal on acceleration as the rev range is much shorter being a twin and as such its has bout 25% more torque than an il4 which translates that the drive comes in much harder and more aggressive.
It makes peak power some where like 10500rpm where is the v4s I rode has more power but at something like 14000rpm. Approximate figures not looked them up.
As a feeling rather than a measured and quantifiable performance stat the 1299 accelerate much harder than the v4s imo after riding them back to back.
